Dan Wheeler Earned Job Because of Track Record Then Why Was
Dan Wheeler earned a spot in our our bullpen out of spring training over other candidates like Hagadone, Herrmann and Chen because of his track record.
They why was Shelly Duncan given the LF job with his lack of a track record?
We are averaging 3 runs per nine innings in our games so far, we lost two games already because of the offensive weakness and poor plate decisions, especially Cabrera in game with one with the bases loaded and he swings at the first pitch which was out of the strike zone.
We desperately need an impact, RH hitter. How do we acquire one? That is what Antonetti gets paid for. Right now, we can't compete with Detroit, not even worth arguing about.
Remember now, I didn't say it, Shapiro did, we are supposed to contend and win a WS in this window of opportunity.

Let's all panic after 3 games!!!
Indians suck! Yankees suck! Red Sox suck! Angels suck! Giants suck! Braves suck!
We've been over this RH hitter thing the entire offseason. Nothing materialized, so for now we have to work with the pieces we got.

We maybe could have gotten Hunter Pence for the same package as Ubaldo cost. If we can expect(debatable but quite possible) that Ubaldo can pitch to his career averages, i.e. a 123ERA+ with a 1.291 WHIP, I'd take Ubaldo.
If that's the case, we spent all of our bullets on one trade. Unless some team is desparate for relievers, we're screwed.

Not sure I see the parallel. If going on track record, Duncan was more deserving than the other outfield options as well. Duncan has been a solid, productive part-timer the last two years.
Indians need a bat, that's for sure, and they know it and have known it all offseason. It is one of those things where it was a lot easier said than done. The trade options did not align because teams wanted too much or we simply don't have the talent in AAA/AA to pull off a noteworthy deal. Unless you want to trade Kipnis or Chisenhall in a deal to get that coveted bat, which there are few available.
It is something they will continue to strive toward picking up between now and the trade deadline.
