Thanks Tony, I'm sure Zajac is chomping at the bit for this season to start up. Hopefully they can get a couple more guys signed and acquainted quickly to fill out the roster.
Really hope Elvis Araujo makes his way to the squad. I've been wanting to see what he's got for quite a while.

Curious as to what the Scrappers roster will look like... I know that the Toregas thing is strange as heck... next we'll hear that Adam Miller will start their opener...

Minor league teams usually market the heck out of a rehab appearance, so one can only imagine how big of a deal MV is gonna make of having an ex-big leaguer (okay, it was only a cup of coffee, but this is half-season ball) on their regular roster to start the season. If nothing else comes out of this mess, maybe the Scraps can sell a few extra tickets.

Has Trey Haley really been demoted to MV? Or is it just a paper move? Thanks.

Re: 2010 Official Mahoning Valley Scrappers Thread
I have somewhat of a roster update, while it's still very incomplete at the moment.
Aaron Fields, Kyle C. Smith, Alex Kaminsky, Wyatt Toregas, Jordan Cooper, Dale Dickerson .. all confirmed on the roster.
Still working to get more.
Also have a few quotes from Fryman to come as well.

I know Toregas will be playing, but what about Haley and Buscher? Are they just on there as a paper move, or will they be playing?

98% certain Haley is a paper move. Buscher I've fairly certain is a paper move also, but I'm less certain.
Some of these guys I have no idea who they are. I'm going to have to do some research tonight.

Haley and Buscher are paper moves.
Man, that's not a very intriguing lineup. Kinston on down is mostly awful with the lineups. Some promising guys at MV, but no big potential guys at all.
I'm curious to see Rosario and Cooper pitch. Also, interested to see what Seastrunk does hitting as well as Urshela. That's abot it.

You may see some big potential guys in MV as summer wears on. But right now, very boring.

I agree, guess will see one or 2 off the radar guys have a good year ala Folgia etc... I know this is the "wrong" thread for this part but, really think we might have made a mistake not taking Choice in the draft. Sure we got a great potential FOR lefty but you said Tony.... We have a huge gap between Akron and all the way down to Arizona in the hitting department. Hope Abreu catches on fire or Bellows starts using HGH or somethin........

Man, that is the worst roster I have ever seen on an Indians' minor league team. Except for Cooper, really not very many, if any, prospects on this team. Early in the summer but one would have guessed someone would have come up from AZL or something.

Yeah, though this roster shuld be in flux all year as guys are signed. Also, Urshella may be the best player on the team....really excited to see him.

Never draft for need, always draft for BPA, you can trade a great player we might lack hitters now but a surplus of pitching is always a great trade tool ask Philly

Watch, this team will probably win the NY-P title!
Also, I want to see Fontanez play. He intrigues me. A guy with a good glove who, when he can stay on the field, has shown a little pop in his bat.

They're not even on the MV roster now. I just checked.
Also, the Scrappers are operating 5 below the roster limit. They are currently operating at the dress limit of 25, but can add 5 more players without having to make a roster move. So it will likely be a little while before anybody gets cut to make room for a draft pick.

You will probably have a reassignment or two from Kinston/LC to Mahoning Valley shortly, and in addition to that more draft picks will continue to filter in.

Davis did it I think above the rookie level, he should dominate hes a fringe major leaguer going against squads that are 30-40% fringe minor leaguer

I was considering going to tonight's game... good thing I didn't though. Man, it's getting ugly there.

Don't know what happened. He just disappeared.
The pitchers were AWFUL tonight. So may have been a thing where after beating him up through three innings with balls in the dirt and all over the zone they took him out for his own sanity. He didn't appear to get hurt.

Did you happen to see him walk back to the club house after he was taken out? Most of the Scrappers starters will do that once their night is over.. so, color me curious.

No, didn't see him. I was in the Scrappers dugout too in the photo booth and the other photographers there I asked said they never saw him leave the field either. Weird.

Re: 2010 Official Mahoning Valley Scrappers Thread
Interesting note on Seastrunk. In talking to him last night I asked why he didn't sign last year with the Giants, and he said because he wanted to go back to school and get picked by the Indians this year. Guess the Indians were set to take him last year and the Giants picked him right before we did. We had called him and told him we were taking him, and he and his scout with the Indians have a tight, great relationship. So he chose to wait it out until this year so he could go to the Indians.
Interesting story to me, as I don't recall such a thing ever happening at least with the Indians. I'll have it for a piece up on the site soon.

am looking forward to watching RHP alex kaminsky (wright st. univ.) throw on friday evening for the scrappers vs. batavia. he dominated jamestown on sunday in his professional debut. looking at this kids resume at wright st. university is very impressive, his bb/k ratio over his jr. and sr. seasons is outstanding.

I wish the FO would say the same things about MV that they are saying about the AZL team to manage fan expectations and put things into perspective.
Unfortunately, the only thing to say about MV is that it is a bad, bad baseball team. Those wins at the beginning of the year may be the high point of the season.
