Best I can tell, they still only have three outfielders in Kinston (Webb, Greenwell, and Abreu). Didn't see any new faces last night.
Looks like three to me also.

Unless there is an injury, that might be all you will see until we take the player from the Kearns trade. NY talk radio has it that Melky Mesa is an option. Although a bit long in the tooth for HiA, he has broken out in this year's 2nd half. Not a lot of good options otherwise.

Does the CL or MiLB have a minimum roster size? I have the K-Tribe at 23 right now.

Why? I think McFarland deserved it....he's tailed off of late, but it was time to move him. Interestingly, Packer is sticking in the rotation in Akron.

Can we hear a bit of applause for a real workmanlike job for TJ House? Only 1K and BB in 7IP along with 8 Hits and 4 GIDP and 2R/ER.

Really starting to put it together and figure some things out and finish strong, which is what you want to see.

Heck of a job by Gardner tonight..... allowed 3 first inning runs on back-to-back leadoff triples and a 2-run double but finished with 7IP, 7H, 3R/ER, 1BB, 4K, 12:4 GB:FB
Didn't allow an XBH after that first inning burst.

Way to go Ktribe. Took two from Salem yesterday to get within two games of the division lead. Kyle Bellows with a big day at the plate. Check out the Carolina League standings - three teams tied for first and Kinston two games back. I had about given up on them after the last homestand where they played poorly, maybe it was premature.

I just checked and Kinston is at the roster limit as Castillo was activated from the DL sometime last week (I believe the 8th). Sorry for not finding this sooner, but Kinston tends to be secretive re: DL moves (not sure why).

Burns gets the save tonight, IIRC 3 K's in one IP...
Gardner uncharacteristically has a 5/5 GB/FO ratio and hits 3 batters but gets the win, 2-1...

And he walked 5. Obviously didn't have his best stuff.

Gardner struggled mightily just about every inning but kept wiggling out of jams. Had one key double play that I can recall. Sign of a good pitcher becuase he sure didn't have it last night. Burns, on the other hand, had a ridiculous curve going in the 9th that even the lefties couldn't touch!

Welcome to Tony's place, eon. Like you, I like the bat but not sure it stays at catcher. Not a huge issue with the system hole at 1B.

Hey, I know Bruce Drennan doesn't know what he's talking about on many occasions, but he's saying Acta says he wants to bring up a reliever from Kinston in September. Of course, the name "escaped him."

He's probably referring to Stowell who "was" in Kinston. I still don't buy that the Indians will bring up Stowell this year. Makes no sense on a a lot of levels, and contradicts some off the record things I have been told.

He mentioned Stowell and "some kid in Hi-A." He knws next to nothing about the minors, (he had never heard of Jason Kipnis until 2 weeks ago) so that is probably what he was trying to say.

He is the only reliever in Kinston doing anything specal, but I can't believe they would go to him with all the relievers in AA/AAA.

Actually, Jones and Langwell have both had outstanding years also, but I'm like you, I doubt any of them would get called up this year.

In all honesty, I don't think Bruce knows what he is talking about. He is probably right on a player Acta wants to get a look at, but I have a hard time believing Bruce would know what level the guy is at. Could very well be a guy at AAA/AA. I think he may be talking about Pestano, personally.

I've met and talked to Bruce Drennan on a couple of occasions and both times was astounded at the lack of anmy depth of knowledge he had on anything having to do with Cleveland sports teams. Baseball is suposed to be his forte', but quite frankly my 12 year old son has WAY more knowledge of our major league and minor league systems than Drennan does. Proabaly because he travels with me to all the games I go to throughout the summer ...lol.

He is entertaining, but, yeah, I don't count on him for any expert opinions.

With the other talent in the system, I doubt he cracks top 10. However, he has likely jumped up to the top 25 to 30. That is a HUGE jump up from #94 on Tony's listing.

I think Chen most definitely will be somewhere in the Top 40. Where exactly will be determined once all this is (over) analyzed this offseason. I don't think he has any chance of Top 10. Maybe Top 20-25.
