Nottingham traded

Postby Chiefroy » Mon Mar 30, 2009 5:08 pm

according to Rotoworld:

Shawn Nottingham-S-Pirates Mar. 30 - 4:52 pm et

Pirates acquired LHP Shawn Nottingham from the Indians for a player to be named.

Nottingham wasn't much of a prospect when the Indians got him from the Mariners for Ben Broussard in a 2006 deal, and he's less of one now after amassing a 5.38 ERA between high-A and Double-A last season. A finesse left-hander, he's unlikely to have a career as a starter or a reliever.

Heh....I actually posted it about an hour ago. Looks like the Indians did Shawn a favor sending to a team that may be able to use him. Nottingham has a history with Huntington, so I am sure that played in to him winding up there. Had he not been dealt, I think he was on the verge of being cut.

my guess (& its only a guess) is that this was a fan/ former classmate of Shawn's.
The fanbase of Massillon (including the high schools of Washington, Jackson and Perry) is not noted for it's patience or general understanding.

I wish Shawn the best of luck he might be a LOOGY type for Pittsburgh, and you do have a point going to a HS in akron I did have a lot of the canton exposure

They do. Baseball just ties them over between spring practice and summer workouts before training camp begins.
