MLB | Cuban players defect

Enrique Rojas, of ESPNdeportes.com, reports Cuban P Yadel Marti and OF Yasser Gomez left their island and are attempting to reach the Dominican Republic to start major league baseball careers, according to sources. Marti was Cuba's best pitcher in the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Both players were punished and banished from Cuban baseball after being caught with others trying to board a boat and illegally leave the country. Both players are major league ready, according to a talent scout.

Any chance the Indians will be involved with either of these guys?

Will they eligible to be signed before the season? Seems like they're getting to the DR pretty late for it but maybe they'll be signable. The pitcher sounds interesting at least from what I've read....
