Date on Tony's new book
Hey, Tony, or anyone in the know, when can we order the new 2013 prospect insider book? I got tax return money burning a hole in my pocket...

Re: Date on Tony's new book
I don't want this to sound like criticism b/c I respect the time IBI invested in its top 50 list. This is more of an "I'm willing to buy low on this under-appreciated prospect" kind of post.
RHP Luis DeJesus was left off the top 50 prospect list. I recognize that the guy isn't of the top prospect ilk, but I think he's a legitimate MLB prospect. For reference sake (comparable age, level SP), I think DeJesus is a better pitching prospect than Jake Sisco.
DeJesus has a big body that should be durable in the future and a good delivery. His arm slot is very nice and he's able to get good downward tilt and arm-side run on his fastball. Importantly, he's got good command of his fastball, which is a very important building block for young pitching prospects. The guy has a stiff delivery and he's not really all that athletic, but sometimes you can be surprised by pitchers adding velocity. Dan Straily of Oakland was never a flashy prospect, but he had good command, some size and nice arm slot and turned out great despite never being highly touted as a young prospect. He just pounded the strike zone and worked his way up the ladder with good command of his pitches.
I'd like to be clear -- I'd never go to a prospect showcase and walk away thinking, "I've gotta get this DeJesus kid" after seeing him throw an inning and a BP session b/c there's no flash, but that arm slot and action is nice, his fastball moves well, he has the makings of a nice hard curveball and good command. I can see him being able to work 180+ innings, and pounding the lower half of the strike zone with his fastball. I don't think their pitching styles are that comparable, but in terms of what kind of prospect they are, I see DeJesus being a Jeanmar Gomez-like SP prospect for the Indians and I think he can prospectively get more K's than Gomez did.
