Smoke Signals 12/11: Busy show on tap tonight!
Boy do we have a jam packed show this week. Obviously, we will be talking about the Kerry Wood signing which by the time the show airs could be official once he (hopefully) passes his physical in Cleveland on Thursday afternoon. Also, we will talk about the Mariners-Indians-Mets three team trade that saw outfielder Franklin Gutierrez change his address to Seattle and RHP Joe Smith and infielder Luis Valbuena come to Cleveland.
In addition to all that, right-handed reliever Randy Newsom will be our guest for our weekly feature interview near the end of the show. And, if any player from the Indians is lost in the Rule 5 Draft, they are all expected to call in for a short on-air interview as arrangemens have been made with several players to call in if they are picked.
Here is the link to the show:

Show starts at 9:30pm ET and will go an extra half hour because of all the stuff to talk about and the potential for many on-air guests and calls from fans. If you want to call in and chime in on the Wood signing, the three-team trade, anyone lost or not lost in the Rule 5 Draft, or whatever, please call us at 646-716-8012.

Thanks for all of your efforts Tony, just wish you weren't on during dinner time out here on the west coast (I have to listen to the delay).

Should be an enjoyable show. Wish it was set to go longer this week.

It is. We are going 90 minutes....9:30-11:00pm.
And what timing with Newsom. Not only could he be picked, but will be interesting to hear his thoughts on the acquisition of a guy just like him (but who throws harder). Newsom is very candid, so will be VEERRRRRRYYYY interesting to hear what he says on that. He won't hold anything back.

Sorry T. I now see the additional 30 minutes noted in the original posting.
I had recalled seeing the upcoming show announcement at TCF as a 60 minute item so I made an assumption.

Week after week I am surprised by how down to earth and interesting ALL these guys are. Don't they realize that someday they could be millionaires?

^Not only that but most of them are damn entertaining, especially Randy.
I've always liked Newsome, but man does he have the right mentality about going out there and pitching. I really hope he gets his chance.

finally listened t all my saved podcasts, they where a lifesaver when I was stuck for 5 hours in jersey.
I was very impressed by Newsome maybe my favorite interview yet, I hope he gets a chance with the Indians if not I hve a lot of faith he will pitch in the majors some day.
Also was I the only one who listened to him talk an thought he has the perfect mentality for a pen guy and that some day he could be a really good pitching or bullpen coach

Newsomes agent, Joe Bick, works on my floor in the Scripps Center in downtown Cincinnati. He loves the guy. I'm not sure he's going to get an opportunity with the Indians. That bullpen looks pretty deep.

He does seem very smart and could be a coach someday.
I just have seen him as more of an agent or front office guy down the road. Isn't he the one that started that thing were you could 'purchase' a player in the minors or something then make back money if the guy made the MLs eventually (or do I have the wrong guy)?

Yes. That was Real Sports Investments, which was the brainchild of him and friend/minor leaguer Brian Pritz. All sorts of issues with the idea from MLB and the SEC, and he complied and made some changes and changed the name to Real Sports Interactive.
