Maybe there was an injury for Smith he didn't even last an inning last outing.

I don't follow the draft closely but it seems the indians have been very focused up the middle the last 2 drafts?

I lost power for a little while, some idiot ran into an electric pole. My guess is a DUI is in their future. Anyway, I really like some of our second day picks, other ones I really don't care for.

blah blah blah. A reach or two, but lots of upside guys. Way too early to be giving whiny grades when you (and I) don't have any real clue. Personally, I love some of the arms they have gotten. Too many catchers and 2b though..my only real complaint.

Jeff Schaus got picked again. Going back in the draft didn't do him any good. Power really disappeared with the new bats.

Agree on McPhee and Hankins and Merritt. (Projecting! hah)
Lowrey...could be a steal or a dud, but is interesting, although I feel we could have gotten him the next round
easily.
Anderson has some serious arm strength! Don't be too hasty on him. Same with Johnson, although he is undersized.

I dont know how you can say you dont know the draft well then give a bad grade. They are going with a ton of risk guys at this point solid B for me, but they can go up. I had no problems with any of there first 8 or so picks

Of the players past the 10th rd, the only one that sounds interesting to me is Sales. Just coming off TJ surgery and hitting 97 is pretty impressive. Looks to be a solid late inning reliever prospect.

I would not mind a run on bats by the Tribe now, especially HS and CC bats, middle of the order type bats. We have enough arms for awhile.

Shawn Morimondo from WWBA 2010 17u Tournament
Edit Adding more from 18u World Championships
LHP's Shawn Morimando and David Yakopec combined to hold the Diamond Devils offense to 6 hits and a single run. Morimondo topped out at 91 mph on his fastball but still has some work to do with his off speed stuff. Yakopec didn't throw as hard, topping at 86 mph, but has a nice curveball/change up combo. Each 2011 grad was effective with his different stuff.
4 pitchers combined on a 3 hit shutout for the Orioles ScoutTeam. Shawn Morimando(2011 –Virginia Beach, VA), Evan Perez(2011 - Moreno Valley, CA), Matt Lees(2011 –Richmond, VA), and Sean Pico(2012 – Glen Allen, VA). Morimando sat in the 84-87 MPH range with his fastball andshowed a live loose arm. He alsothrew a sharp 1/7 CB for strikes.

I dont think we can sign him, but being that he's from Indiana, maybe we have a better chance with being so close, and maybe his family, and friends can see him play? I know im reaching, just want to keep some hope alive, we can sign him.

No matter how much money you throw at him (unless it's $1M+), I think he's destined for college, simply because of how much he fell in the draft. Thought he could be top ten round material..

I realize Peters is Plan-B/fallback option in case we don't get 1 of Lindor/Howard signed..but that's exactly why he's a good pick...we won't sign everybody, same with K.Brady, who can go back to school and was a top5 round possibility...
Let's get some bats now...8-2 pitchers last 10 and the hitters were 2x2B
Bal St OF Elliott in the 21st...looks like waste-meh...little speed, less power, no on base skills, meh...why not 1B Ard? at least there's some power...or C Kometani

Does how far he fell in the draft really matter if he ends up getting paid like he didn't fall that much at all?

Buchanan to Nats in 19th, Kczzzyyynski in 20th to Cubbies
Didn't do much for Power outside of Lowery...anybody has Smith's stats (9th rounder?), power guy?

I really don't think he'll be offered as much money. I could be wrong, but the fact that he fell means less money. The fact that he fell and won't be getting money points to him going to school, IMO. But, all speculation.

Keep JP away from sharp objects.
So he turns down the Indians twice (last year in the 10th round) and now gets drafted in the 14th. He better not sign!
Btw, was gone all day. How did we do? I read up on some of the picks and seems like we went for upside more than anything else.

Speaking of turning down the Indians, the Tribe just drafted Cody Allen again (their 16th rounder last year). Looks like Allen should have taken the original offer because he's now a 23rd rounder.

Nice pick, he's wild as heck but obv has some stuff...if signed I guess he is on a short leash for remaining a SP...but maybe he can be fixed some

Taylor Sparks from BA
Taylor Sparks, 3b, St. John Bosco HS, Bellfower, Calif.: Sparks possesses a classic 6-foot-3, 205-pound third baseman’s build. He ran well for his size (6.94 60) and while his defensive skills are a shade raw, he has the athletic ability to be a decent defender. Sparks shows promise with the bat. When he learns to use his long arms to get extension and leverage, Sparks will develop driving power.

Another nice fallback pick in MIF K.Kramer
from PG:
Kevin Kramer is a 2011 MIF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Turlock, CA who attends Turlock HS. Slender athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. Tall stance with comfortable load, big weight shift through contact, hips glide, prototypical California swing style, very good strength in swing, smooth out front, lifts the ball, consistent hard contact, really projects with the bat. 6.86 runner, quick feet at shortstop, works through the ball, smooth actions, good balance, good arm strength, throws carry well, easy fielding actions. Complete player. Good bet to keep improving in all areas. Verbal UCLA.

The more I'm reading up on the guys the more I think we had another great draft. However, can we sign these kids? We spent like $9M last year and Lindor and Howard alone could cost us close to $6M. That said, which picks are our priority?
My guess (in 15 minutes of reading scouting reports, so take it fwiw):
Lindor
Howard
Sisco
Haase
Tarpley
Peters
Sparks
Kramer
