Second Thoughts Game #5: Twins 7, Indians 3
The Cleveland Indians' loss on Saturday to the Minnesota Twins wasn't totally shocking -by generous estimates, they had something like a 60% chance of winning the game. The offense never got untracked and Vinnie Pestano has struggled in the early going, but the IBI's John Grimm takes a positive outlook to Carlos Carrasco's outing...

Captains sweep away Lansing in Saturday double header
Lake County Captains manager Mark Budzinski led his team to its first two wins of the season, and the first two if his professional career. Carrasco struggles, Indians fall to Twins, 7-3
He may have had an option, but he may not be the best option. 2014 IBI Positional Rankings: The Right Fielders
Today we move on to the right fielders in our annual IBI positional rankings. The Indians have Michael Brantley and Michael Bourn seemingly locked into left field and center field for the next several years, but at the moment have a short term platoon-type situation in right field with David Murphy and Ryan Raburn. This is a position where the Indians thankfully have some legit prospects with everyday potential, and they are sprinkled throughout almost every level of the organization. The IBI's Tony Lastoria ranks them all and includes scouting reports for them...

MLB and the Draft: A 20 year look
Jeff Ellis has been working on draft information at Indians Baseball Insider for a few years. Of late he has focused quite a bit on the historical side of the draft and how the Indians have done. The common refrain when he has dipped into the past is that the Indians have really struggled at drafting, yet he was unsure if that was true as he was not certain of the success of every other team. So he decided he needed to figure out a system to compare every team in Major League Baseball and came up with some research for all 30 teams over the last 30 years that shows who has shined or struggled in the draft the last two decades.

Around the Farm: April 4, 2014
The Indians affiliates did not have much luck in the win column on Friday as Double-A Akron was rained out and all three of Triple-A Columbus, High-A Carolina and Low-A Lake County lost. The one saving grace, and really only one that matters, is the Indians winning 7-2. The IBI's Arthur Kinney chimes in with an IBI staple.....Around the Farm.

Orbiting Cleveland: The potential of Zach McAllister
Zach McAllister made his season debut for the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. Yes, there were some positives, but it was far from a stellar performance. Nonetheless, the IBI's Steve Orbanek believes McAllister will play a key role for Indians and the team's chances for success in 2014, and he details that in the latest edition of Orbiting Cleveland.
