Swinging for the Fences: David Murphy and lineup balance
One of the greatest Christmas gifts many Tribe fans ever received was a baseball team to be excited about back during the winter of 2012-2013 where Terry Francona took the reins of the ballclub and took them to the next level as a playoff contender. This offseason, the Tribe made their first big free-agent signing in the form of veteran outfielder David Murphy. It may not a particularly exciting move, but the IBI's Jake Dungan explains why adding him could be essential to the team as far as lineup balance.

Murphy deal official, veteran looks to bounce back in Cleveland
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, to give back and to come together with those around you. Or apparently, speak up and declare what side you're on. On Monday, the Indians finally made the signing of outfielder David Murphy official. IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz took part in a conference call with Murphy and GM Chris Antonetti and shares what both had to say.

Injuries have forced Indians prospects Jose Ramirez and Jesus Aguilar out of the lineup, but the big news is that Carlos Santana is working out at the Indians complex in the Dominican Republic and getting himself prepared to play some third base this winter. Tribe Madness: Dunn Field Region Round 2 results
The IBI Tribe Madness tournament pitting the 128 greatest Indians players of all time against one another in an NCAA basketball-like tournament continues with the results from the matchups in round two of the Dunn Field Region. With four matchups involving eight players, four will move into the Region Semi-finals and four will go home. Some of the remaining names in this region include Tribe favorites such as Cliff Lee, Rocky Colavito, Tris Speaker, Bob Feller and others.

Orioles claim Phelps off waivers, Indians DFA Cloyd
The Indians made it official on Monday as they added free agent outfielder David Murphy to the roster. To make room on the roster they DFAed right-handed Tyler Cloyd. They also received word that infielder Cord Phelps was lost on waivers.

Indians lose Flores and Espino
The Indians have lost two of their better minor league free agents to free agency as right-handed pitcher Jose Flores has signed a minor league deal with the Athletics and right-handed pitcher Paolo Espino has signed a minor league deal with the Cubs.

Meanwhile, Erik Gonzalez had a rare 0-for-3 performance as he snapped his own hit streak. Ryan Battaglia hit a double and reached base three times over in Australia making it eight of his last ten games where he's recorded a hit.
