Around the Farm: October 8, 2013
The Arizona Fall League kicked off on Tuesday afternoon in the desert sun out in Phoenix, and four Indians prospects were in action as Tyler Naquin and Joe Wendle got the start and Shawn Armstrong and Trey Haley came on in relief to close the game late. In this first normal version of ATF this offseason, Tony recaps how the players did as he gets set to heads out to Arizona on Wednesday to see it all firsthand.

Around The Farm: Instructs October 7, 2013
Instructional League action continued in Arizona on Monday as the Indians took on the Dodgers at the Goodyear facility and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. The game featured another dominating performance by lefty Elvis Araujo who has been sensational this fall. The IBI's Tony Lastoria talks about that and also shares all of the stats from the game and provides up-to-date fall stats for all of the players that participated in the game.

Ranking the final 2013 Cleveland Indians' roster: Part two
Playoff baseball returned to Cleveland this year as Terry Francona and company surged to a 92-70 record and a berth in the wild card playoff game. That berth makes 2013 a success for Cleveland, even though the team lost in the one-game playoff. Given where this team was at the end of last year, the turnaround is just tremendous. As I do at the end of every year, here is part two of me ranking all 49 players who logged time for the big league club in 2013.

Notes From the Wigwam: Season in review
The Indians completed a terrific season last week that culminated in a 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Wild Card Game. It's astonishing to think of the progress that has been made in one year under Terry Francona as the Tribe went from 68 to 94 wins. The 2013 season was filled with numerous ups and downs for the team, but everything is pretty much looking up for the future. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he looks back at the year that was in the IBI staple Notes From the Wigwam.

Breaking down the 2013 Aeros' hitters with Edwin Rodriguez
The Akron Aeros did not defend their Eastern League championship in 2013, but the Aeros served a greater purpose over the course of the season: Developing the next wave of Cleveland players who will soon play at Progressive Field. Jim Piascik sat down with Aeros manager Edwin Rodriguez at the end of the year to discuss the development of some of the top players on the team. In part one of this two-part series, we break down the Aeros' hitters in 2013.

IBI Power Poll: What to do with Jimenez, Kazmir and Masterson?
The Cleveland Indians are facing an extremely difficult offseason in which both Ubaldo Jimenez and Scott Kazmir are entering free agency. Obviously, both pitchers rounded into a form that is reminiscent of their dominant years with both Colorado and Tampa Bay. The question is, do you sign both pitchers, or do you have to temper your offers based on the simple fact that Justin Masterson is a free agent in 2014? Join Jim Pete for this week's power poll.

Around the Farm: Instructs October 5, 2013
The Indians faced off against the Reds in Instructional League action on Saturday coming away with a 5-4 victory at the Goodyear complex. The game featured the return to the mound of right-hander Tyler Sturdevant, a nice performance at the plate from catcher Eric Haase and a position change from catcher to pitcher for a pretty high profile Latin player. Tony shares those details plus lists the complete stats from the game.

A deeper look at Yan Gomes
As the Indians season comes to an end, they find themselves in an enviable position when it comes to their depth at catcher. Coming into this season the Indians seemed to be set for the foreseeable future behind the plate with the heavy hitting Carlos Santana and looked to be in good shape at one of the most important positions on the diamond. Then, without warning, Yan Gomes happened. IBI newcomer Matt Rose opines in his debut piece about how valuable Gomes was in 2013 and how the catching situation is even more enviable.

It appears as if the foundation is now set for this team to be a contender for years to come.
