Orbiting Cleveland: Can Aguilar help in 2014?
Help comes from all places in the Major Leagues. The Cleveland Indians got some unexpected help this past season as Yan Gomes and Danny Salazar came up from the minors and played an integral role in the team's playoff push. The Indians will likely need similar contributions in 2014, and probably one of the most likely candidates is first baseman Jesus Aguilar. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he opines on the big slugger in the latest edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

A lot of Indians were in action once again on Thursday night in the Arizona Fall League and Venezuela Winter League. Jesus Aguilar came down to Earth at the plate, Ezequiel Carrera had a strong game, Will Roberts started and had a typical outing for him, and others got in and played as well.

2013 Instructional League Notebook: Part 1
Another year of the Fall Instructional League came to pass on Monday as the Indians put the wraps on the 2013 development season with an eye toward a busy offseason in anticipation for 2014. In some ways Instructional league is not considered the end of the season, but rather the beginning of the next one. The IBI's Tony Lastoria was out in Arizona recently and shares a ton of insights into pitchers like Carlos Melo, Kyle Crockett and Jodan Milbrath who really impressed this fall. He also gives updates on several other pitchers and has injury and rehab updates on close to a dozen players.

Trend Spotting: Drew Stubbs and his value as a sub
The Indians offseason is strewn with forks in the road. The most important fork may have three prongs being multi-year decisions on Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Scott Kazmir, but the IBI's Michael Hattery diverts his attention to a move that will inevitably have a smaller effect but yet still an effect. That is what to do with Drew Stubbs, and he breaks it down as only he can.

In defense of Carlos Santana
Carlos Santana is the most underappreciated Cleveland sports athlete the IBI's Jeff Ellis has seen in his life time. The amount of people who want him sent out of town or that think he is a terrible disappointment never ceases to amaze Jeff. He comes up with a few theories as to why he is disliked by so many and also puts to bed several myths about him and shows why he is arguably he most valuable bat in the Indians lineup.

This game was the second of three against the NC Dinos (Changwon) of Korea Professional Baseball, and once again the young, inexperienced Indians hitters had fits against the Korean pitchers as they were shutout and limited to one hit. There were some impressive showings on the mound from the likes of Jacob Lee, Sean Brady and others, and Tony reviews all the numbers from the game and provides some insight into how players are doing and also potential destinations for next season.
