IBI Power Poll: Who are the American League wildcard teams?
The Cleveland Indians are in a fight for their playoff lives, but now the proud holders of one of the two wildcard slots, actually control their own destiny. Second Thoughts Game #154: Astros 1, Indians 2
Earned runs, unearned runs, walks, hits, errors, extra innings, rain. In the end, it doesn’t matter how you win since they’re all chalked up the same in the win column. On Friday night, the Indians took game two of the four-game set against the lowly Astros 2-1 in a rain-shortened six and a half innings of play. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps how mistakes and mother nature helped usher the Tribe to victory.

Indians win rain shortened game 2-1, move into wildcard lead
Postseason ticket sales started for the Cleveland Indians on Friday morning, and the team offered fans another reason to invest on Friday night. The Indians moved into a playoff position with a 2-1 win on Friday night, thanks to some Houston Astros errors and some inclement weather.

What if the Tribe made the Richardson trade?
This shocking trade the Cleveland Browns made earlier in the week where they shipped Trent Richardson off to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first round pick doesn't bother the IBI's John Mast. Cleveland is a tough town for sports fans who have lived through many disappointing seasons, heartbreaking losses, and star players constantly being traded or leaving via free agency. He wonders what it would have been like had Justin Masterson been dealt by the Tribe in July.

Orbiting Cleveland: A 2007 vs. 2013 comparison
With just nine games left in the season, the Indians now have a legitimate shot at making the postseason. Remember the last time we were here? In case you forgot, it was back in 2007, and the Indians came within a game of clinching a World Series berth. This current team may not be as highly regarded as the 2007 version, but as we've seen in the past, once a team makes the playoffs, anything's possible. How does this year's squad stack up to the 2007 one? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he ponders that thought in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts Game #153: Astros 1, Indians 2
It took a few extra innings, but the Indians found a way to come through with a much needed 2-1 win over the Astros on Thursday night in the opener of a long four game series. Ubaldo Jimenez was once again fantastic and the Indians needed a splendid outing from him as the offense struggled all night against the worst pitching staff in baseball. The IBI's Michael Hattery shares his second thoughts on the game...

Carson sends Tribe home with a much needed walk-off win
It took 11 innings, but the Carson show was on live at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario Thursday night. With the bases loaded and the game knotted at one apiece in the eleventh, right fielder Matt Carson knocked in the game-winning run with a walk-off base hit, giving the Tribe the 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros.

Trend Spotting: Run scoring trends and what they mean
The Indians offense so far this season has been a paragon of inconsistency, a mercurial mess which leaves us with shelves full of empty bottles of antacid and a broken remote or two. The instability of production that this offense has shown because of the lack of any real anchor’s in the middle of the order and the run scoring trends as a result are interesting, and the IBI's Michael Hattery explains them in his latest Trend Spotting piece.

Minor Happenings: Lugo took a big step forward in 2013
In this week’s Minor Happenings, Tony takes a look into the rise of left-hander Luis Lugo and how his stuff improved this season and has him racing up the prospect lists. The Inside Pitch 2.19
During today's episode, Andrew and Jeff will debate the Trent Richardson deal. Who could have seen this coming? Can any sense be made of it? Who becomes the new face of the Cleveland Browns? What do the Browns do in the 2014 draft? Was it too early to give up on the season? They'll also talk Tribe. Are Salazar and Kazmir regressing? How much does the lack of a big bat hurt the team? What are the remaining...

Second Thoughts Game #152: Indians 2, Royals 7
The Royals won this game 7-2 to complete a second series win against the Indians in as many weeks. While this was a missed opportunity to take the lead in the second wildcard spot, the Indians didn’t lose any ground on a playoff spot this series. That said, it was a sloppy effort from the Indians and the IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on the ugly showing...

Royals power past Tribe 7-2, take three-game series
Only the Indians caught themselves howling at the full moon above Kaufmann Stadium Wednesday night. A three run first inning and defensive miscues were too much for the Tribe to overcome, as they fell to the Royals in the rubber match, 7-2. The win gives Kansas City the series victory as they take two out of three against Cleveland for the second time over the last 10 days.

Who will be Tribe's Cody Ross or Edgar Renteria?
As the excitement of the MLB playoffs arrives with the crisp air of fall, heroes of the season begin to come to mind. So often, it’s not the stars who step up and make a huge impact for the team that eventually wins the World Series, it’s the role players. The IBI's John Mast chimes in asks that very question: Which role player has a chance of making the biggest impact for the Indians down the stretch and potentially in the postseason?

Finding balance at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Cleveland Indians aren't glitz, and they certainly aren't glamor. This team is built around a group of players that are even-keeled, even-tempered and share similar skills and abilities. This week, Jim Pete talks about how this team is the epitome of that term, and how their win in game two showcased just how this team can look very, very good, and very very bad, all at the same time. Is it good enough to make the playoffs? Find out in this week's Corner of Carnegie and Ontario...

Second Thoughts Game #151: Indians 5, Royals 3
Those fans whose television sets survived past the fifth inning were treated to a Tribe comeback win against wild card rival Kansas City to even the final regular season series between the two AL Central clubs at one. With their 5-3 win, the Indians clinched their first winning season since 2007 thanks key RBI hits by Michael Bourn and shutout pitching by the bullpen. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan for his thoughts on the game.

Bourn, Indians rally for big 5-3 win in Kansas City
The Cleveland Indians crafted some late-inning bat magic as they rallied a comeback 5-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. Michael Bourn was the late inning firestarter as his 7th inning triple set up the tying runs and his 9th inning homer gave the Indians the cushion they needed.

AZL Indians Insider: 2013 season review - The hitters
Over the next few days Tony will be providing year-end pieces like this for all of the Indians six minor league affiliates. Due to the size of the roster at Arizona, this piece has been broken up into two pieces with part one on the position players posting today. Tony recently had a chance to sit down with Indians Assistant Director of Player Development Carter Hawkins to get the organization’s thoughts on the performance/development of some of the players there such as Clint Frazier, Francisco Mejia, Gerald Bautista, Ivan Castillo, D’Vone McClure, Silento Sayles and several others.

2014 MLB Draft: My Way too early Big Board
It is several months before the college baseball season begins, but that doesn't mean people aren't already talking draft. Since the summer leagues are done and the showcase circuit is over, IBI draft guru Jeff Ellis decided to sit down and make his first draft board. Next year's draft figures to be the best pool of talent in years, and with the Indians holding at least two first round picks it could be a very important draft for them.

Second Thoughts Game #150: Royals 7, Indians 1
Just a half game back of either wild card spot after sweeping the White Sox, the Indians looked to continue their strong play down the stretch as they rolled into Kansas City. The series opener ended up being a forgettable showing in every facet as the Indians looked lethargic while the Royals were sharp and on top of their game. The IBI's Kevin Dean shares his second thoughts...
