It's the turning point at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Cleveland Indians have weaved their way through the 2013 season with a MacGyver-like precision. Terry Francona has used duck-tape, chewing guy, a paperclip and a toothbrush to carry the Indians into late August with a real chance at a playoff run. With the next eight games against teams in or fighting for the playoffs, Tribe Time really is now.

On-Deck with the Captains: 8/21/13 - 8/27/13
The season is winding down to its final week and the Lake County Captains won’t be seeing any postseason action this year. The past two weeks were vital for the team's chances to advance, but the wins just didn’t happen as the team was swept by West Michigan and dropped two of three to Dayton. With one homestand remaining, the team will look to finish strong before the fall leagues start. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recaps the previous week for the Captains.

Second Thoughts Game #131: Indians 0, Braves 2
Since the start of August, the Indians offense has been next to last in the major leagues in production. Tuesday night was more of the same, unfortunately as the Indians scattered six hits and five walks without plating a run. One fateful pitch to Elliot Johnson was the difference in an otherwise well-pitched game. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his second thoughts on the Tribe's 2-0 loss in Atlanta.

Braves blank struggling Indians offense in Atlanta, 2-0

The Tribe outhit the Braves 6-3 in the contest, but unfortunately squandered multiple scoring opportunities. Join the IBI's Jim Berdysz as he recaps all the action from the tough Tuesday night loss.

Launching off with the Aeros: 8/20/13 – 8/26/13
The Akron Aeros had a decent week -- winning four of their seven games -- though it was not enough to get them back into the playoff picture. One more loss (or an Erie SeaWolves win) eliminates the reigning Eastern League champions, though things are not all bad. Akron's bullpen dominated, as did two early-season heroes who had slumped of late. To find out who they are and everything you need to know from the past week, join Jim Piascik and go Launching off with the Aeros.

Breaking down the September callup options for the Indians
The Indians players enjoyed a much needed off day on Monday, but the organization was still hard at work in the offices at Progressive Field and on site at Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus evaluating September callup options for the stretch run. Tony checks in and goes through a list of 21 players at Akron and Columbus that are being considered for callups and provides insight into why they will or won't be called up by the Indians. Will Jose Ramirez fill a utility role? Does Jesus Aguilar get called up? What about Kyle Crockett or Bryan Price? He answers all of that and more in his latest...

Second Thoughts: Swisher, Bourn have not been up to par
Over the winter, Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher were given a combined $106 million (with the possibility of up to $132 million) to play for the Indians for the next 4-6 years. While they have both certainly helped the team more than hurt it in year one, neither has quite performed at their standard level of production. The IBI's Kevin Dean takes a look at the impact or lack thereof both have had this season.
