Carson paces Columbus to 4-1 win over Louisville
Center fielder Matt Carson’s three RBI performance helped clinch a series sweep against the Louisville Bats with a 4-1 victory Friday at Huntington Park. After knocking in infielders Nate Spears and Justin Toole with a groundball single to center field in the bottom of the third inning, Carson provided the Clippers with some extra breathing room in the eighth with a solo bomb into the left field bleachers.

Thunder strikes early, hold on to defeat Aeros 5-4
After dropping 2 out of 3 to the New Britain Rock Cats at home during the week, the Akron Aeros were looking to gain lost ground in the Western Division playoff race in the beginning of a 6-game road trip. However, the Trenton Thunder had other plans and defeated the Aeros 5-4 on Friday night at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton, New Jersey.

Scrappers come through in clutch for 3-2 win
After a disappointing three-game stretch to start the week, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers rectified the woeful start with a dramatic, walk-off victory Friday night, defeating the Hudson Valley Renegades 3-2. Mahoning Valley starting pitcher Caleb Hamrick threw well, and defensive miscues continued to be an area of weakness for the Scrappers. But clutch hitting can be the difference maker for a team, and that was the case Friday night.

Anderson, Mudcats trample Keys 12-1
An all-around dominant performance by the Carolina Mudcats led to a 12-1 victory over the Frederick Keys on Thursday night. Offensively, Carolina was led by right fielder Jordan Smith, who went 3-6 with two RBIs, scored two runs and hit a home run.

Orbiting Cleveland: The growth of a pitching prospect
Despite losing in extra innings, Tribe fans are still buzzing over Danny Salazar's start on Wednesday. With his recent success, Salazar has now cemented himself as the team's top pitching prospect, and he is also arguably the team's top pitching prospect in years. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he opines on the topic in the weekly IBI staple, Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts Game #115: Tigers 10, Indians 3
The Indians are a contender. Yes these last four days have been as long and torturous as a Jean Claude Van Damme movie, but they are behind the Indians. Yes the Tigers are clearly the class of the AL Central and this is true for a few different reasons: Miguel Cabrera (really just the middle of the order in general), the consistency of their rotation, and shockingly their bullpen. Join Michael Hattery as he gives his Second Thoughts on Thursday's sweep-finishing loss.

Rein leads crushers in 5-1 win
The Crushers ordered the Matt Rein special on Thursday night. At least, that's what it would be called if it were a menu item, and the Crushers could theoretically order results of games as if they were menu options. Rein pitched seven innings and earned the win as the Crushers (40-31) took the rubber match by beating the Freedom (39-32) 5-1.
