Head-ing in the right direction
One pitcher who is on the rise as far as relief prospects go in the Cleveland Indians system is High-A Carolina reliever Louis Head. After being cut in college from the Texas Tech baseball team, he has since rebounded to not only get himself drafted and signed by a Major League Baseball team, but become an interesting relief prospect. The IBI's Zachary Francis recently caught up with him and tells his tale...

Second Thoughts Game #121: Indians 9, Twins 8
On the heels of the two most disappointing series of the year, the Indians entered Wednesday's game with the Twins hoping to secure a series win and gain some momentum. It did not look good early, but they somehow managed to comeback and win the game and series and now move onto Oakland for a big three game set in a Wildcard showdown. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on a big win...

Adams, Aeros crumble late, lose 4-3 for seventh loss in a row
Hoping to turn their luck around against Richmond Wednesday night, the Aeros couldn't stop Richmond from scoring late in the game as an eighth inning three run home run by Richmond's Mark Minicozzi took the game right out of the Aeros hands, and they lost 4-3.

Around The Farm: August 14, 2013
Considering that Carlos Santana, Yan Gomes, and Lou Marson were all not developed in the organization, it is great to see catchers like Jake Lowery and Alex Lavisky performing like they did Wednesday night. The catching depth looks good in the minors and Lowery and Lavisky are a part of that. To read about what made their performances noteworthy and everything else you need to know about Wednesday night in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm.

Frazier adjusting well to first taste of pros
Most eighteen year olds across the country are currently enjoying their final summers of being a kid, eagerly preparing for what the next chapter of life will bring them. This is not the case for Clint Frazier. The Indians first round pick out of the MLB Draft barely two months ago is making his way through his pro debut out in the rookie leagues in Arizona, and the IBI's Sean Aronson recently caught up with him to see how things are going.

What's Wrong (?) at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Cleveland Indians have entered another August, and have found themselves struggling to win baseball games. No, it's not another 5-24 month like last August, but the Tribe has lost seven of nine, and are 5-8 overall this month. It couldn't have come at a worst time, as the Indians are falling further away from the Tigers and the wildcard. Join Jim Pete at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario, as he ponders what's wrong with the August Tribe this year...if anything...

On-Deck with the Captains: 8/7/13 - 8/13/13
The Lake County Captains strung together a handful of wins last week, including a three-game sweep of the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The sweep was huge, especially against one of the better pitching staffs in the Midwest League, and will hopefully give the Captains a boost as they continue to make a push for the playoffs in the remaining weeks of the season. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger reflects on the Captains' previous week.

The Tribe also benefited from losses by divisional/wild card opponents. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his second thoughts on the win.
