Mudcats split doubleheader in Salem
The Carolina Mudcats took game one of a doubleheader against the Salem Red Sox 7-1 on Sunday afternoon before dropping game two 3-1. The doubleheader split keeps the Mudcats a half game out of the wildcard spot in the playoff race behind Salem.

Kazmir falters as Tribe drops rubber match 7-3 in Oakland
Chris Young and Alberto Callaspo each hit solo home runs off Scott Kazmir in the fifth as the A's beat the Indians 7-3 Sunday in the rubber match of the three-game series. With the loss, the Indians are now 3-3 on their current road trip. Cleveland is now seven games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central and 4.5 games behind in the Wild Card. Crosscutter pitchers combine for no-hitter of Mahoning Valley
On Sunday afternoon in Williamsport, the site of the ongoing Little League World Series, history was made as the Williamsport Crosscutters no-hit the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and secured an 8-0 victory.

The Rock of Cleveland Part 2- Celebrating Rocky Colavito
Tribe fans filled the Terrace Club last Saturday for a special luncheon to celebrate Rocky Colavito’s 80th birthday. The IBI's DJ Sebastian was was fortunate to be in the audience to participate in the festivities, and provides all the fun and countless stories he shared throughout the event. There is no doubt that The Rock is still much loved in Cleveland.

Clint Frazier continued his run through the overmatched Arizona League, and even though it's an offensive league, you have to be impressed with the numbers he's been producing. Cabrera busts slump, top of Tribe order lifts team to 7-1 win
Asdrubal Cabrera broke a 0-for-20 slump with two RBI hits and Ubaldo Jimenez took a no hitter into the sixth, as the Cleveland Indians beat the Oakland A's 7-1 Saturday night at o.CO Coliseum. Ubaldo Jimenez was effectively wild over five and two-thirds innings, walking five and striking out eight. He took a no hitter into the sixth inning as his pitch count ballooned.

Bauer, Clippers crushed by Tides 8-1
The Columbus Clippers were crushed by the Norfolk Tides Saturday night, losing 8-1. The Tides picked up their first six runs in the first two innings, while Columbus was held to one run in the first and would not score again.

Aguilar ties record, leads Aeros to latest win
Over the years at the minor league level, lots of players come and go, and many fade from memory over time. After Saturday night, one thing is for certain. Jesus Aguilar will never be forgotten by Akron Aeros fans.
Aguilar, Akron's gregarious, 6-foot-3, power-hitting first baseman, added another chapter to his MVP-worthy season when he laced a two-run double in the eighth inning that gave the Aeros the lead and paved the way for a 5-3 victory over the Reading Fightin Phils at Canal Park.

Home runs lift Captains over Lugnuts
The Lake County Captains (28-26, 51-70) used two homeruns in the fifth inning to propel to a 5-3 win against the Lansing Lugnuts (22-33, 54-70) on Saturday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. The Captains beat the Lugnuts for the seventh time this season.

Errors, walk-off sink Scrappers 4-3
The Scrappers were on the cusp of splitting a two-game series with the Auburn Doubledays before errors and a walk-off sac-fly sent them packing by a score of 4-3. Re-energized by the miscues of their opponents, the Doubledays won the game 4-3 in the bottom of the tenth and swept the Scrappers on a walk-off sac-fly from catcher Andruth Ramirez.

Yan Gomes' thoroughly unexpected season
There is no doubt that Yan Gomes has come out of nowhere to be one of the best players on the team. The big question is whether or not Gomes can sustain it going forward. So far in baseball history, there has not been anyone quite like Gomes, but that does not mean he cannot sustain this success. Jim Piascik analyzes Gomes' performance to date, why it is so unique, and takes a look at some possible outcomes going forward.
