Late rally not enough as Aeros fall to Richmond 9-4
“I am not going to say that I'm happy it happened, but this is the minor leagues and you have to learn. You have to show up to play every day. Whatever happened yesterday you have to turn the page. This is a learning moment.” Akron Aeros' manager Edwin Rodriguez had that to say about his team's 9-4 loss Friday night.

Seventh-inning rally lifts Clippers over Bulls 3-2
Thanks to a few lucky breaks in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Columbus Clippers nudged the Durham Bulls 3-2 Friday. After a rough beginning at the Triple-A level this season, T.J. House has turned things around as of late. In his last four starts, he has accumulated a 2-1 record with a 1.50 ERA.

Raburn lifts Indians over Rangers in 11-8 walk-off

It was the seventh walk-off win this season for the Indians, who began a stretch of 14-of-17 games at home. The IBI's Nathan Kemp recaps Raburn's memorable evening.

Orbiting Cleveland: Gauging trade deadline priorities
The MLB Trade Deadline is less than a week away, which means that there are plenty of rumors as to what the Cleveland Indians should do. Everyone seems to have their own take on who the Tribe should go after, but it's evident that the team is in need of an upgrade. Mark Reynolds has struggled immensely over the past few months, and the IBI's Steve Orbanek returns to Orbiting Cleveland this week to opine that the Indians need to acquire a professional bat to replace Reynolds.

International Report: Indians continue to add talent
The Indians have been quite busy on the international signing front over the past month plus. Back in early June the Indians signed shortstop Yu Chen-Chang out of Taiwan, followed that up with two splashes at the start of the International Signing Period on July 2nd by inking shortstop Willy Castro and outfielder Junior Soto out of the Dominican Republic, and then just a few days ago came to terms on Cuban right-handed pitcher Leandro Linares. Tony shares the details on each signing...

Since the last edition of the Scrapperbook was published, things have been very rocky for the boys of summer in Niles, Ohio. They went on to lose 12 games in a row, but have since battled back to win seven of their last nine games. Second Thoughts: Lineup optimization and Yan Gomes
The Indians offense is strewn with inconsistency. It may be a challenge to pick at an offense that just dropped 10 runs in Seattle but we all know that the week preceding was an offensive struggle. The IBI's Michael Hattery takes a stab at analyzing and determining what he believes is the Indians optimum lineup, and it is much different than what Francona has been writing into the lineup card of late. He also chimes in with a request to get Yan Gomes more playing time.

By the third time Francisco Lindor walked up to the plate Thursday night at Canal Park, the Akron faithful began to chant, "Fran-cis-co." The highly-touted Indians prospect put on a show and gave everyone a look into the type of hitter he can be, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three runs batted in to lead the Aeros to a 5-1 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Around The Farm: July 25, 2013
We all know Francisco Lindor is an elite player, but watching his video game numbers pile up upon his promotion to Double-A is an entirely new level of dominance. Lindor did show his human side a little bit Thursday -- striking out for the first time -- but he more than made up for it in power. To read about Lindor's night, a Mahoning Valley infielder showing he can hit, and much more, join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm.

Sailing with the Clippers: 7/18/13 to 7/24/13
Pitching has been the name of the game for the Clippers as the second-half of their season has gotten off to a promising 4-3 start. They could easily be 7-0 as their losses came by three runs or less (two of them were by a one-run deficit). With a limited offense, the pitching staff is key and if they keep the runs down, Columbus has a shot of making a late-season push for the playoffs. The IBI's Ethan Day recaps the week that was for the Clippers...
