Second Thoughts Game #86: Tigers 7, Indians 0
After pitching a complete-game shutout against the White Sox last weekend, Justin Masterson couldn’t make it out of the fifth inning before giving up six of the Tigers’ seven runs of the night. it was not the way the Indians wanted to start this four-game set, but it’s still only one game. However, it doesn’t get any easier from here on out. The IBI's Jake Dungan gives his second thoughts on Friday's disappointing loss to the Tigers.

Masterson, Indians roughed up by Tigers, lose 7-0
A sold out Progressive Field crowd was left wanting as the Cleveland lineup mustered no runs against Detroit starter Rick Porcello, as the Tigers beat the Indians 7-0 in the opener of a four-game series. The Tribe now trails the Tigers by 2.5 games in the American League Central, but still has a chance to move to the top of the standings with three more games against Detroit wrapping around the weekend.

Orbiting Cleveland: Fixing the bullpen
The Indians have had a bit of an underwhelming week so far as the team was fresh off a four-game sweep over the White Sox but scuffled to a 1-2 record against the Royals. The culprit for the tough Kansas City series was the bullpen, which seems to become more and more unstable by the day. Are there any ways that the Tribe can improve the bullpen in order to stay in contention? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he ponders that thought in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts Game #85: Indians 7, Royals 10
A 5-0 lead in the sixth inning on the Fourth of July is enough to make anyone feel just a little more patriotic. The subsequent relinquishing of that lead, however—and another lead shortly thereafter—can take the taste out of your hot dogs and the glimmer out of your fireworks. And that is what happened to the Indians as they fell 10-7 to the Royals. The IBI's Andrew Clayman shares his "second thoughts" on the ugly finish for the Indians.

Royals stun Indians 10-7 as bullpen gives game away late
Another explosion of the struggling Indians bullpen were the only fireworks Cleveland would see on Thursday at Kauffman Stadium. Up 5-0 in the bottom half of the sixth, Kansas City Royals outscored the Tribe 10-2 over the final 3 1/3 innings to take the three game series by a score of 10-7. After winning five straight, Cleveland (45-40) finds themselves on a two-game skid and back in second place just 1 1/2 games behind Detroit for first place in the A.L. Central.

Around The Farm: July 4, 2013
A very happy Fourth of July to you! We at IBI hope you had a great holiday and enjoyed a little time off. There was no time off in the minor leagues Thursday, as all of Cleveland's affiliates were in action. Some did a little worse than others (like a pair of four-hit outings in Columbus and Carolina), though there were plenty of good performances, including some impressive pitching and hitting in Lake County. To read all about Thursday in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.
