Early in the season it looked like Akron Aeros shortstop Ronny Rodriguez may have been pushed too hard and needed some time back in High-A Carolina to get his head right. After a pivotal midseason adjustment to his swing, however, Rodriguez is tearing up the Eastern League and simply dominating. Lake Erie could not complete a late comeback Saturday night as errors costs the Crushers a 4-3 loss to Rockford. After winning four games in a row at home, the Crushers streak came to a halt, despite a promising chance to get the win.
Richmond, VA- The Akron Aeros got off to a slow start Saturday evening at The Diamond Stadium in Richmond, Virginia. The game against the Flying Squirrels went scoreless up until the last three innings when the Aeros were able to score nine runs to earn a 9-3 win and record a third straight victory.
There was plenty of action to recap Saturday night in the Indians farm system as all the affiliates were in action, and there were also many outstanding performances. Joe Wendle continued his recent tear with a record-setting night at Carolina while Danny Salazar put together his latest brilliant effort on the mound. COLUMBUS- The Clippers split a doubleheader against the Louisville Bats Saturday. Right-hander Danny Salazar dazzled in the first contest, allowing just one hit on the way to a 4-0 blanking by Columbus but the Bats would rebound by earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the second affair.
ZEBULON – The Carolina Mudcats got one of their most complete games of the season as the pitching dominated and the offense took advantage of some timely pitching mistakes to earn a 7-2 win over the Salem Red Sox on Saturday night.
Torii Hunter fell a single short of the cycle to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 9-4 win over the Cleveland Indians Saturday.
