Snappers walk-off to beat Captains, 3-2
The Lake County Captains (12-7, 35-51) scored a run in the sixth in order to force extra innings but they fell in the tenth inning on a walk-off home run by right fielder John Wooten. The Beloit Snappers (13-6, 56-33) took game one of the series by a 3-2 final score at Pohlman Field on Wednesday night.

Indians late rally falls short as Blue Jays edge Tribe 5-4
They say baseball teams go as far as starting pitching takes them. Tribe ace Justin Masterson (10-7, 3.72 ERA) gave his team another quality start, but it was the bullpen that gave the game away late, yet again. Cleveland scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough to overcome another bullpen meltdown as the Toronto Blue Jays squeezed by the Tribe 5-4. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps Wednesday night's loss.

All-Star Flores shining so far in 2013
When asked a few weeks ago if he thought he was deserving of an Eastern League All-Star nomination, Akron Aeros right-hander Jose Flores dismissed the question, saying he doesn't think about things like that. Flores will be thinking about the game tonight, however, as the reliever will be participating in the game in New Britain, Connecticut. Jim Piascik talked with Flores recently about what is different in 2013, what is making him successful, and more.

2013 MLB Draft: The Indians shadow draft
The 2013 Draft is long over now, and most players who are going to sign have done so. This year, IBI draft guru Jeff Ellis thought it might be fun to cap off the draft coverage here at the IBI with an Indians shadow draft. A shadow draft is exactly what you think it is: Jeff gets to put on my GM cap and make every single pick. Take a look at who he picks and compare his picks to what the Indians did.

On-Deck with the Captains: 7/3/13 - 7/9/13
The past week was a good one for the Lake County Captains as they went 4-1 since last Wednesday with one game suspended due to rain. Most notable is the team’s offense, which took off and scored a total of 41 runs during the last five games. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recaps the week that was for the Captains.

Second Thoughts Game #90: Blue Jays 0, Indians 3
Whether you like him or not, Ubaldo Jimenez has been a solid contributor to the Indians rotation this season. While we can all probably agree he’s far from being the Cy Young-contending ace he once was, he has been at least serviceable at the very minimum. Then again, being 7-4 with a 4.37 ERA is a tad better than serviceable. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps Ubaldo's dominant start and the Tribe's shutout victory over the Jays.

Around The Farm: July 9, 2013
It was a short day in terms of games in the Indians' farm system on Tuesday and finding any performances of note (good or bad) from the Mudcats game was as difficult as the nurse's job would've been if a stone sculpture of a turnip showed up at today's blood drive at the Jake, but the IBI's Arthur Kinney is here to take us "Around The Farm" and review the notable performances on the night...

Indians blank Jays 3-0 on solid pitching from Jimenez
Quality starts have been few and far between for Tribe starter Ubaldo Jimenez. Tuesday proved different for the right-hander, as he and the Indians shutout the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-0 for their eleventh shutout of the year. The win was much needed after a disappointing loss to the Tigers the previous night.

Scrappers extend losing streak to seven games
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers now own the worst record in the entirety of the New York Penn League, as they fell to the State College Spikes on Tuesday night by a final score of 12-5. Just seven days ago, the Scrappers owned a record of 7-9; a record some would call respectable. Fast forward a week and the Scrappers have yet to win a game and are currently 7-16 with a .304 winning percentage on the season.

House brilliant in 4-0 shutout of Indians
The last time Clippers left-hander T.J. House saw his name in the win column was May 13. Going up against the International League West leading Indianapolis Indians Tuesday, it looked like that statistic wouldn’t change. Wrong.

Lynchburg snaps Mudcats' four-game streak

The case for trading Asdrubal Cabrera
After losing the first two games of a four game series in spectacular fashion to the Tigers, and then ultimately losing three of the four games in the series, Indians fans at least subconsciously recognized what they already suspected: this year’s Cleveland Indians are not at the same level as the Tigers and will be hardpressed to win the AL Central. The Indians need pitching, and one of the ways they may try to get it is by trading Asdrubal Cabrera in some sort of package.

Launching off with the Aeros: 7/2/13 – 7/8/13
The Akron Aeros got back to winning after a bit of a dry spell, taking five-of-seven games on a road trip to Bowie and Richmond. The winning pushes the Aeros to 44-46 on the year, 5.5 games behind the first-place Harrisburg Senators. The amazing hitting of Jose Ramirez, the power of Jake Lowery, and a plethora of strong pitching carried the Aeros. To find out all you need to know about the week for Akron, join Jim Piascik and go Launching off with the Aeros.

Second Thoughts Game #89: Tigers 4, Indians 2
After dropping the first two games of this series to the Tigers in hopeless fashion, the Indians still had a chance to split the four-game wraparound on Monday. The offense managed just two runs, but were well within position to win it throughout, thanks to mostly quality pitching. Down the stretch, it was a series of questionable coaching decisions that helped lead to a brutal loss. The IBI's Kevin Dean shares his "second thoughts" on the tough loss for the Tribe.
