Around The Farm: July 17, 2013
Nellie Rodriguez struggled at Lake County early in the season, making it was clear that the organization pushed the first baseman too quickly. After he was moved down to Mahoning Valley, Rodriguez looked better and started to produce, not that anyone could have seen Wednesday night coming. Rodriguez turned in a career performance, and to read all about it and the rest of the action from the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.

Captains fall 7-6 in 12 innings
The Lake County Captains dropped an extra-inning affair with a 12-inning 7-6 loss against the Cedar Rapids Kernels Wednesday night. Right-hander Dylan Baker (6-5, 3.26) took the bump for the Captains to counter Cedar Rapids’ righty Christian Powell (2-3, 5.68).

Rodriguez's career night not enough, Scrappers fall 7-5
Just two days removed from a 12-game losing streak-ending victory, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ defense allowed three unearned runs and the Scrappers fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones 7-5. The defense, which has recorded multiple errors in 14 of the team’s last 15 games, committed two errors in the bottom of the third inning which allowed the go-ahead runs to score.

2013 Trade Deadline: Top trade assets for the Indians
The July 31st trade deadline is only two weeks away. The second half of the season is set to begin and the Indians are right in the thick of the playoff race as they are 1.5 games out of first place and 3.0 games out of the wildcard. The Indians have been aggressive in their pursuit of options to complement their team and improve the lineup or pitching staff, and Tony runs down the assets the Indians have to acquire one of those players. He uses insight gathered from the team and other organizations and touches on the top 20 players that teams will covet when completing a deal with the Indians.

On-Deck with the Captains: 7/10/13 - 7/16/13
Last week wasn’t as glamorous for the Lake County Captains in comparison to others as they went 1-5. Three of their losses were one-run games and it was the bullpen that let the team down in most of the decisions. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recaps the Captains' week in her weekly notebook.

Call to the Bullpen: Episode 1.14
It's the All-Star Break and here to discuss all the highs and lows of the Indians first half are Jake and Hayden on Call to the Bullpen! Second Thoughts: Where the rotation stands
It’s the All-Star break in 2013 and once again, the Indians find themselves within striking distance of the division lead. There have been many keys that have led to their strong showing in the first half. However, one element that deserved a good deal of the credit is the starting pitching staff, one that originally had a lot of ‘maybes’ and ‘what-ifs’. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he breaks down the rotation at the halfway point.

Around The Farm: July 16, 2013
There was only one game played in the Indians organization on Tuesday night because of the MLB All Star game, but it was a big one. In Akron the game featured the debut of shortstop Francisco Lindor as well as the continued good play of several other hot prospects in the system.

Lindor’s arrival brings excitement but Aeros fall 5-2
After arriving one day before, top minor league prospect Fransisco Lindor made his highly anticipated and much talked about debut on Tuesday night but he was relatively quiet at the plate as the Aeros lost to the Erie SeaWolves 5-2 on Tuesday night at Canal Park.

Launching off with the Aeros: 7/9/13 – 7/15/13
The Akron Aeros stumbled a little bit coming out of the Eastern League All-Star break, dropping three of their five games over the past week. The team got a shot in the arm, however, with the news that top prospect Francisco Lindor is joining the team starting tonight. Jim Piascik brings you quotes from Lindor's press conference earlier today, as well as recapping the rest of the week in Launching off with the Aeros.

The IBI midseason prospect rankings: #11-#20
Now that we have hit the All-Star break and more than half the season is over, it felt right to have an updated prospect ranking on IBI. Since Tony will be putting in a ton of work ranking the prospects for 2014 soon enough, Jim Pete and Jim Piascik both ranked their top prospects and then merged their lists into one. Part one of that list is after the jump, as well as the two Jims' e-mail chain as they justified their rankings to each other.
