In the midst of a three game slide, the AZL Indians looked to get back in the win column Thursday night against the visiting AZL Padres. The game featured a little bit of everything including home runs, bloopers, wild pitches, and sloppy errors, but the AZL Indians were able to prevail in a wild affair.

Second Thoughts Game #78: Indians 3, Orioles 7
One can hardly complain about splitting a four-game set with the homer-happy Orioles at Camden Yards. But with the Tribe gaining on the Tigers’ tail and a double-header in Chicago looming on Friday, that mess of a fifth inning on Thursday night certainly took some wind out of the sails, leading to an Indians 7-3 loss and series split in Baltimore. The IBI's Andrew Clayman shares his second thoughts on the game....

Around the Farm: June 27, 2013
All of the Indians affiliates were in action on Thursday night, including Columbus who had a doubleheader. There were several good and not so good performances on the night, but the one that really stood out was the start that left-hander Luis Lugo had for Mahoning Valley. Eric Haase and others also continue to make strides...

Indians fall to Orioles 7-3, split four-game series
Indians starter Corey Kluber entered Thursday’s ballgame with a 3-0 record giving up four runs in his last three starts. A surging Orioles offense would change all that in one inning, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Tribe, 7-3. With the loss, Cleveland (40-38) splits the four-game series with Baltimore as they remain 2 1/2 games in back of the first place Detroit Tigers in the Central Division.

Urshela's clutch hit helps end Aeros' losing streak
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. And when the opposition gives up back-to-back walks in the eighth inning of a tie game, go for the jugular. Such was the approach used by Akron Aeros third baseman Giovanny Urshela, who cracked a two-out, RBI single to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday night, lifting the Aeros to a 3-2 victory over the Altoona Curve in the opener of a five-game series at Canal Park.

Lugo is brilliant in Scrappers 2-0 win
On a pleasant night at Eastwood Field, the crowd of 3,587 was treated to a great night of pitching from both sides, ending in a 2-0 victory for Mahoning Valley. With the Scrappers pitching staff entering the game third in the league in ERA, and Spikes staff entering second in the league, respectively, a pitcher’s duel was not surprising.

The second game of the series was completed on Thursday evening, after being suspended due to rain with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning on Wednesday night. The Crushers were trailing 2-1 when the game was called on Wednesday, but came back to win a bizarre, 10-inning affair 3-2 on a walk-off walk from Kevin Berard.

MLB trade rumor analysis: Asdrubal Cabrera
Since the Indians drafted Francisco Lindor in 2011, the tenure of Asdrubal Cabrera has had a fast-approaching, but unknown expiration date. Is this the right time to deal the 27-year old shortstop? If so, what's a reasonable return and who would be interested? The IBI's Charlie Adams weighs in with some heavy analysis and insight in this fantastic piece.

Sailing with the Clippers: 6/20/13 - 6/26/13
It appears that the Clippers set their anchor at the beginning of June and forgot to pull it back up because they are going nowhere fast. Yet again, Columbus finished the week with a losing record, going 2-4 in six contests against Pawtucket, Lehigh Valley and Norfolk. Now seven games below .500 at 36-43, the Clippers sit 16 games behind front-runner Indianapolis in the International League West.

Second Thoughts Game #77: Indians 4, Orioles 3

Joe Smith came in and blew the lead in the eighth but the bats rallied for two runs in the ninth and then Vinnie Pestano slammed the door in the ninth for a much needed 4-3 Indians win. The IBI's Michael Hattery shares his "second thoughts" on the game...

Indians rally late, defeat Orioles 4-3 on a big comeback win
Hall of Famer Ty Cobb once said, “Speed is a great asset.” For the Indians on Wednesday, speed would prove to be a huge asset when it would matter the most. Down 3-2 in the ninth inning, the Tribe rallied back to steal a win from the Orioles with a 4-3 victory in Baltimore.
