Indians fall victim of another tough loss, Royals squeeze by 2-1
On Puppypalooza night at Progressive Field, the game itself belonged to the dogs.Up 1-0 after seven innings, the Indians dropped another tough loss late in the ballgame, falling to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. After spending 24 days in second place in the American League Central, the loss now puts Cleveland (34-35) in third place for the first time since May 10.

Notes from the Wigwam: Tribe shows improvement
The Cleveland Indians are starting to get back on the right track and went 4-2 this past week while earning series victories over the Texas Rangers and the Washington Nationals. Perhaps no players was more impressive than right-hander Corey Kluber, who went 2-0 in two starts and allowed just one run in 16 innings of work. The 2013 Mahoning Valley Scrappers are certainly an eclectic bunch. A combination of fresh draft picks, older free agents, and rising prospects, the Scrappers embody their nickname perfectly; they are the personification of scrappy. Just trying to scratch and claw their way to the next level, each Scrapper has a different story. The IBI's Hayden Grove talked with several of the Scrappers over the weekend and sets the stage for the start of their season tonight!

2013 MLB Draft: June 17th signing update
The Indians inked more players over the weekend, this biggest being 1st round pick outfielder Clint Frazier to a $3.5 million deal. The Indians have now signed 14 players from their 2013 Draft and more will filter in over the next three weeks before the signing deadline passes on July 12th. The signing news is slowing down, but Tony checks in today with a few updates on some players.

Kaminsky leads Crushers to victory over Rockford, 8-4
Jumping on Rockford early and often, Lake Erie salvaged a weekend series with the Aviators with an 8-4 win on Sunday. After struggling all series long with the team's pitching, starter Alex Kaminsky came out and gave the Crushers a strong outing going seven innings and holding the Aviators to three runs on seven hits.

Second Thoughts Game #68: Indians 2, Nationals 0
Now that’s how you pitch! Indians starter Corey Kluber pitched the best game of his life on Sunday as the Tribe shutout Washington, 2-0 to take the three-game series. Pitching out of a bases loaded no out jam in the seventh inning and another two innings with runners on first and third and nobody out, Kluber earned every bit of that victory. Dice-K gets loss in 6-3 loss to Charlotte
The Charlotte Knights sent the Columbus Clippers packing Sunday afternoon, winning 6-3 and splitting the four-game series 2-2. Daisuke Matsuzaka wasn’t able to get the win in his second start after a long stint on the DL.

Captains fall to Loons, 6-2
The Captains fell to The Loons on Sunday 6-2, splitting the four game series with Great Lakes and ending the first half of their season with a 23-44 record. The Captains are off until their road trip to Dayton on June 20th.

Mudcats close first half with another loss
The first half of the Carolina League season came to a close on Sunday night as the Carolina Mudcats lost to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 7-5. The Mudcats lost for the 11th time in 12 games to bring their first half record to 22-48.

Indians Kluber Washington 2-0
Corey Kluber escaped three no-out jams with no damage and the Cleveland offense provided just enough support, as the Indians beat the Nationals 2-0 to win the three-game series.

The Mudcats offense continues to hit the cover off the ball. Unfortunately, it's rarely with runners in scoring position, and rarely makes much of a difference in the overall scheme of things. Crushers drop wild one to Rockford, 18-17
Lake Erie (10-16) dropped a wild one to Rockford (6-19) Saturday night with a final score of 18-17 in 13 innings. No lead was safe for either team as the Aviators finally got the winning run across in the bottom of the 14th off Dave Middendorf well into the morning.

For the Indians, Saturday was a tale of the bad, the good, and the ugly. Cleveland was left stunned on Saturday night as the Washington Nationals scored twice in the final two innings to secure a 7-6 victory over the Tribe. Captains sweep doubeheader from Loons
The Captains and the Loons played a double header Saturday night, with The Captains taking both games with finals of 5-2 and 4-3. Both games played were seven innings with the second game being a makeup from a postponed game on April 19th.

Clippers joust Knights to 4-2 win
After splitting a doubleheader Friday night against the Charlotte Knights, the Columbus Clippers snatched a win Saturday night, 4-2. Columbus’ offense boomed in the first inning scoring all four of their runs, while Charlotte was unable to make up for the deficit throughout the game.
