The 2013 Transaction Rundown: April 2-5
Welcome to the first week of the Transaction Rundown. A notable number of transactions went down this week, including a notable one that is scheduled to happen tonight (Trevor Bauer). Join the IBI's Arthur Kinney as he runs down all of the week's player movement within the Indians system.

Second Thoughts: Game #4:Rays 4, Indians 0
The heavily-advertised Indians offense faltered a bit on Friday as no Indians were able to muster much offense other than Michael Bourn. Right-hander Zach McAllister made his season debut and allowed two earned runs across six innings of work, yet the Indians count never mount enough offense to challenge the Rays. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he looks back at the game and offers his Second Thoughts.

Clippers start season off with two wins
After a low-scoring outing in their 2013 debut, the Clippers’ bats came alive in Indianapolis in game two of their series against the Indianapolis Indians. Indians’ center fielder Alex Presley and shortstop Jordy Mercer started off the game with back to back doubles, giving Indianapolis a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Mudcats "Stars" shine bright in opening night 10-1 win
On a perfect night for the 2013 home opener, the Carolina Mudcats took the field against the Winston Salem Dash and exploded for ten runs in a 10-1 blowout win. Tyler Naquin just missed hitting for the cycle and right-hander Cody Anderson as well as shortstop Francisco Lindor all impress on opening night.

Captains fall to Lugnuts, 5-3
The Lansing Lugnuts used a four run two out rally in the sixth inning to secure the 5-3 victory over the Captains on Friday night at Classic Park. Ryan Merritt (0-1) started for the Captains and pitched five innings allowing five hits and one earned run and also struck out five, but was saddled with the loss.

Indians shut down by Moore, suffer 4-0 loss to Rays
When going on a road trip, it’s easy to leave some necessary belongings behind. For the Indians, it looked like the team left their hitting shoes behind the Canadian border in Toronto, as Tampa Bay shutout the Tribe on Friday night, 4-0. The IBI's Jim Berdysz recaps a frustrating loss for the Indians.

Aeros struggle again on offense in 2-1 loss to Mets
The Akron Aeros experienced déjà vu Thursday, falling to the Binghamton Mets 2-1 for the second consecutive night at Canal Park. Once again, Akron's bats were quiet, combining to go 6-for-31 with four walks and 11 strikeouts. The team is now 11-for-63 with 21 strikeouts on the year, but manager Edwin Rodriguez is not worried just yet with the slow start.

Bauer to start Saturday with Carrasco to go on Tuesday
A few days after the Indians announced that left-hander Scott Kazmir was sidelined with a rib cage strain, manager Terry Francona officially announced that rookie right-hander Trevor Bauer will be called up from Triple-A Columbus to make a spot-start in Kazmir’s place this Saturday the Rays. Additionally, Francona slated right-hander Carlos Carrasco to pitch next Tuesday in Cleveland against the Yankees.

Orbiting Cleveland: A forecast for Ubaldo Jimenez
There is perhaps no Cleveland Indians player that receives more criticism than Ubaldo Jimenez. The right-hander has been a colossal disappointment since coming over in July 2011 from the Rockies, yet he put together a solid start on Wednesday and was a key reason behind the Indians' 3-2 win. So, was Wednesday's start just smoke and mirrors, or could Jimenez actually be poised to rebound? The IBI's Steve Orbanek ponders in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

2013 Carolina Mudcats Preview: Fishing with #1 Draft Picks
I close out my 2013 pre-season work with my 2013 preview for the Indians High A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats. The Muddies appear to be loading up with top prospects, as ten of the top 60 start off the year with Carolina, and with another three or four ready to make the move when there's an opening. With an established Indians' coaching staff, led by last year's Lake County Skipper David Wallace, the Mudcats look to bring excitement to the Raleigh area in 2013.

Second Thoughts Game #3: Blue Jays 10, Indians 8
Brett Myers didn't make himself any friends amongst fans last night, surrendering three home runs and repeatedly giving the Blue Jays back the lead. The offense tried valiantly Thursday night, but it just couldn't catch up to the surging Blue Jays. IBI's Andrew Clayman gives his Second Thoughts on Thursday's loss, remarking on Myers' outing, a suddenly comfortable Carlos Santana, and more.

Captains top Lugnuts late, 5-4
The Lake County Captains kicked off the 2013 season with a 5-4 win over the Lansing Lugnuts, thanks to some timely offense and speed on the bases. Right-hander Luis DeJesus took the bump first for the Captains to counter Lansing’s Javier Avenado. Avenado is a big right-hander whom the Blue Jays organization picked from the minor league Rule 5 draft back in 2012.

Around the Farm: April 4, 2013
Minor league baseball is back! All of Cleveland's full season affiliates (except Carolina) were back in action Thursday, thus allowing Around The Farm to return to your life. IBI's Andrew Zajac took a look around Thursday night's games and saw an impressive debut from Jose Ramirez, a shutdown outing for Nick Hagadone, and much more. Join Andrew for Around The Farm, after the jump...
