Mudcats fall apart late in 10-2 loss
The Carolina Mudcats offense was absolutely stagnant on Saturday Night, as the Lynchburg Hillcats overwhelmed the Muddies 10-2. Carolina took an early lead, but were unable to hold it, as they fell to one game over .500 in the second half of the season.

Around the Farm: August 4, 2012
The AZL Indians are loaded for bear with offense right now, and while the league is clearly skewed in that direction, there are several interesting prospects that lit it up on Saturday Night. Second baseman Claudio Bautista led the way for the Indians with his best game this season so far. Leading ATF is a 2012 pick who had his first multi-hit ball-game. Find out who, after the jump...

Corner of Carnegie and Ontario:The Road Not Taken
Chris Antonetti threw up the white flag on the 2012 season this past Tuesday when they failed to make any moves leading up to the trade deadline. While many consider this to be a smart play, it goes directly against the move made during last season's trade deadline. Are the Indians taking the correct path? Join Jim Pete at the Corner of Carnegie for his look at the Indians' crossroads...

The 2012 Transaction Rundown: July 28-August 3
The Indians dumped Derek Lowe and Johnny Damon into the trash heap, and dealt Steven Wright to the Boston Red Sox, where he'll be learning from the knuckleball of Wakefield. Kluber, Rottino, Carrera and Seddon also made the move to the bigs, while Travis Hafner headed home for the birth of a child. Oh yeah, Aaron Cunningham was DFA'ed, and kept around. Oh joy...

Damon designated...
The Cleveland Indians designated Johnny Damon for assignment today, ended a fairly controversial tenure that forced the former all-star outfielder into the field after two seasons in the DH-role. To say it was even a moderate success would be the overstatement of the millennium, and that's definitively not hyperbole. Good luck to you Johnny Damon in your quest to latch on to a playoff contender.

Second Thoughts: Game #106 Tigers 10, Indians 2
And the losing streak continues. After being swept by the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals this past week, the Indians dropped their seventh game in a row to Detroit on Friday night, 10-2. It marked just the third time the team was defeated by the Tigers in 10 games this season.

Tribe Hitting Mashes Past Dodgers
The AZL Indians made three errors on Friday night, but their offense was able to bury the defensive woes as they slugged 12 hits and defeated the Dodgers 9-6 with hit parades in the fourth and sixth innings.

Captains win 5-3
COMSTOCK PARK, MI- The Lake County Captains (22-18, 53-56) used a three run third inning to take the lead and added on after that to secure a 5-3 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps (19-21, 55-55) on Friday night. Lake County won three of four in the last series.

Gomez dominates as Clippers win 1-0
The Clippers got back in the win column Friday night, and they did it without much of an offense. After scoring 77 runs last week, Columbus started this week losing its first three games and extending its losing streak to four. The streak stopped Friday, but it wasn’t due to the Clippers production at the plate. Behind seven-shutout innings thrown by right-hander Jeanmar Gomez, the Clippers beat the Norfolk Tides, 1-0, in Southern Virginia.

Mudcats lose second straight
ZEBULON- The Carolina Mudcats (21-19) fell for the second straight night, losing to the Lynchburg Hillcats (19-21) 7-2. Each time the Mudcats would tie the game, the Hillcats would go right back in front in the next half inning.

DeJesus dominates in 2-0 victory
Luis Dejesus isn’t one of the best starters in the New York-Penn League for nothing. The right-hander has been nothing short of dominant, checking in at 4th in the league in ERA at 1.64, and sixth in WHIP at 0.93. If the Lake Monsters didn’t know about him beforehand, they sure got a lesson Friday, as Dejesus turned in his best outing of the 2012 campaign, tossing seven innings of shutout baseball, a season high.

Around the Farm: August 3, 2012
With Ezequiel Carrera and Vinny Rottino's promotions to Cleveland, could that pave the way for Thomas Neal to receive a promotion to Columbus? His numbers certainly suggest so. Also, Jeanmar Gomez has shown two very different sides of himself since being demoted to Columbus? So, which Gomez was on display Friday night? Take a look after the jump...
