Fishing for Mudcats: "Waiting to Exhale..."
The Mudcats were officially eliminated from playoff contention this past week, but that was all just a formality. Now, the only thing left to do is wait and see who's taking off for the greener pastures of Ohio, and Akron. There were few big weeks here in Carolina, but there WERE a few. Just not enough to make much difference. Let's get fishing...after the jump...

Coach's Corner '12: Edwin Rodriguez
In today's Q&A coaches session, Tony sits down and talks with High-A Carolina manager Edwin Rodriguez about several talented players currently on the roster and some that recently departed for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. He discusses the incredible bounce back year that Tony Wolters and Ronny Rodriguez have had since their poor April starts, what adjustments Rodriguez has made at the plate, the improvements made by Jesus Aguilar, the amazing year for Carlos Moncrief and his prospect status, the strides made by Anthony Gallas and Danny Salazar, and more.

AZL Tribe pounds Mariners, 13-7
The AZL Indians have lost several of their top players to promotions the past week, but that did not look to be the case last night as they pounded the AZL Mariners 13-7 last night. They scored 11 combined runs in the sixth through eighth innings to come back and stun the Mariners.

Second Thoughts: Game #129 A's 7, Indians 0
The Indians lost their third straight last night as they were blanked again 7-0 by the Athletics. It is their 12th loss in their last 13 games, their 25th loss in their last 30 games, and they are now 11-33 since the All Star break. They have also scored three runs or less in nine straight games. The trends and numbers of late are not pretty, and William Biggar shares his thoughts on last night's game.

Around the Farm: August 28, 2012
With the minor league season rapidly drawing to a close, many players are attempting to close out the season on a high note. One such player would be Jesus Aguilar, whose performances continue to improve since being promoted to Double-A. Plus, Brett Brach has really been stellar as of late, and that remained the case on Tuesday. But could be possibly eventually be a Major League option? And what about this Dorssys Paulino character? Is he finally started to get a handle since his promotion to Mahoning Valley? All this and more as IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm.

New face arrive for Scrappers, but they drop double dip
A night after a rain-soaked Eastwood Field forced a delay of the last Scrapper home stand, a clear and breezy August evening provided the perfect backdrop for a double dip with the Doubledays. For the Scrapper faithful, it may have looked like a different team than the one that they saw hit the road a week ago.

Launching Off With The Aeros: 8/21/12 – 8/27/12
Your Akron Aeros lost five of their eight games over the past week, but that hurts a lot less when coupled with the fact that they clinched a playoff spot as well! While it would be more exciting for the Indians to be playoff-bound, sometimes you've just got to take what you can get. Join Jim Piascik in his return to Launching Off With The Aeros and go through the week that (kind of) was.

Second Thoughts: Game #128 Athletics 3, Indians 0
The Indians lost their second in a row last night to the Athletics by a score of 3-0. They are now 5-24 in their last 29 games and are 11-32 since the All Star break. It goes without saying that things have not been going the Indians' way of late and that the team is in a freefall and without a parachute. Adam McGavin shares his thoughts on another lackluster Tribe performance.

Around the Farm: August 27, 2012
It was a slow night as we break into the final regular season week in the minors. Carolina and the AZL Indians were off, while Mahoning Valley was postponed. Akron provided a double-header to take up a bit of the slack though. Last night showcased two ATF all-stars in 2012. The first is a starter in Akron, who is rebounding from injury. The second is a middle-infielder in Lake County, who can't seem to stop hitting. Find out who, after the jump...

Ramirez proves clutch late in late Captains comeback win
The Lake County Captains (35-28, 66-66) defeated the Great Lakes Loons (26-37, 62-71) by a final of 4-3. In the top of the ninth inning, Jose Ramirez lined a two out three-ball two- strike pitch down the left field line and motored into second base. Packer, Clippers fall to Indy, 8-5
Indianapolis parlayed a fourteen hit attack into triumph as they beat Columbus 8-4 at Victory Field. The Indians staked themselves to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an Alex Pressley RBI double off of the center field ball. The Clippers would then tie it at 1-1 in the bottom of the third when Juan Diaz scored on a Tim Fedroff RBI groundout to second.

Ranking the Cleveland Indians’ roster for the home stretch
Warning! If you are in a good mood and don't want anything to bring you down, don't read this article. It's one thing to breakdown every player used by a good team, but to go through every cog in a broken-down machine like the 2012 Cleveland Indians is not very pleasant. But it is Jim Piascik's sworn and solemn duty to rank every player used by the Indians this year as we hit the home stretch, so read on if you want to see who is the best (and who is the worst). Just don't expect to feel good after...
