Second Thoughts: Game #100 Twins 11, Indians 0
Coming into the game having just beaten the American League MVP and Cy Young Award winner in Justin Verlander, the Indians made Twins left-hander Scott Diamond look like a Cy Young candidate himself, getting embarrassed and losing to Minnesota 11-0 on last night. Jim Berdysz does his best to sift through the carnage in today's Second Thoughts.

Mudcats lose sixth straight
Wilmington, DE - The Carolina Mudcats dropped a Friday night game at Frawley Stadium to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 6-2. The loss was the sixth straight for the Mudcats, tying a season-long. The Mudcats (17-18, 49-56) jumped out to an early lead when Delvi Cid scored from third on a throwing error by third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert. However, the Blue Rocks (18-16, 47-57) responded with crooked numbers in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to pull away.

EASTLAKE, OH- The West Michigan Whitecaps (18-15, 54-49) jumped to an early lead as the pitching staff held the Lake County Captains (16-17, 47-55) to one hit in a rain-shortened game on Friday night.

Around the Farm: July 27, 2012
Night after night, two particular Columbus outfield prospects continue to hit and hit. Their recent streak would have to come to an end sometime, right? What about Friday? Take a look for yourself after the jump.

Clippers thrash Mud Hens 13-2
Offense has certainly not been lacking at the plate for the Clippers over the past two games, and Columbus has two easy wins to show for it. Columbus defeated the Toledo Mud Hens Friday night, 13-2. Thursday night, the Clippers throttled the Mud Hens, 16-2. Over the past two nights at Huntington Park, Columbus has tallied 37 hits--a franchise record for a two-game span.

Scrappers win rain-shortened contest
Mother nature doesn’t want the Scrappers and Yankees to play baseball. Or at least it would seem that way. After heavy storms forced a cancellation of Thursday night’s affair, she interrupted the first of Friday’s doubleheader, forcing an abrupt end to what was supposed to be a doubleheader. With the Scrappers leading 5-3 in the top of seventh, a small but severe storm moved through that soaked the field, ending the first game, and causing a cancellation of the second game. The early ending did benefit the Scrappers, though, as they were able to pick up the win and earn a split in the rain shortened series.

As good as it gets: Seddon is on a roll
Chris Seddon has been a force on the mound for the Columbus Clippers over the past two months, and is looking like he could be a big league option at some point this season. With rosters set to expand in about five weeks, Seddon's versatile left-handed arm could put him in the mix for a callup to the big league team in September if he finishes the season strong.

Internal errors
No one ever said it was easy to be the general manager of a Major League ball club. Just days before the 2012 MLB trade deadline, Indians general manager Chris Antonetti finds himself the subject of major scrutiny as he tried to acquire and arm and bat. But what about the internal options to improve the club that have largely gone ignored? Steve Orbanek opines...

Second Thoughts: Game #99 - Tigers 3, Indians 5
Wow, what a game and what a series. The Indians and Tigers finished off a crucial three-game series between AL Central contenders in what was a playoff atmosphere at Progressive Field. The Indians stunned the Tigers and their ace Justin Verlander with a four-run 7th to come back and win 5-3, and Adam McGavin shares his second thoughts on the big series win for the Tribe.

Big 7th inning boosts AZL Indians to win
The rookie Tribe followed the lead of the Major League Tribe on Thursday night as they engineered a big three run 7th inning in a 5-4 comeback win against the AZL Padres. The teenage Tribe traded in their powerful offense for a solid defensive showing last night as they did not commit an error in the contest after committing 11 errors over the previous two games.

Around The Farm: July 26, 2012
He's baaaaaaack! The man we all grew to love (and sometimes hate) made his return to stateside ball last night at Lake County. I figured he was a shoe-in for the top slot, no matter what a recent draft pick (or anyone else) did, but that was before the massive offensive explosion in Columbus, led by a certain outfielder. As always, click the link to find out who he is as Jim Piascik takes you Around The Farm.

Hernandez's return to the United States results in 5-3 Lake County Victory
Roberto Hernandez made his return to the United States pitching for the Lake County Captains (16-16) on Thursday night. Behind a solid outing from the artist formerly known as Fausto Carmona, the Captains were able to pull out a 5-3 victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps (17-15).

Clippers Roll Past Mud Hens 16-2
After their season-high six-game winning streak came to an end last night, the Clippers started a new one Thursday night. Columbus rolled past Toledo, 16-2, following a split double header last night in which the Clippers lost game one before tallying an 11-10 walk-off win in game two.
