Around the Farm: May 7, 2012
I'm officially sick of the rain. The Columbus Clippers and the Akron Aeros were both rained out tonight. Combine that with a scheduled off day for the Mudcats, and you have all of one game today in the system. So, call this your Lake County Captains special edition. Tonight's headliner is a long way from the majors, but has the potential to be an important part of the rotation in a few years. Bring out your umbrella, and check out yesterday's MASSIVE list of minor league happenings after the jump...

Captains offense shut down by Hot Rods in 4-0 loss
The Lake County Captains’ (12-18) offense was held to only two hits on Monday night and the Bowling Green Hot Rods (17-14) got just enough offense of their own to win 4-0. Starter Jake Floethe (4-1, 3.72) allowed only one hit in six innings. Three batters were walked and three fell victim to strikeouts. The Hot Rods took advantage of two errors to take the early 1-0 lead. Second baseman Ryan Brett singled to lead off the game.

Right on, or way off: Can the offense keep getting on base?
We are about five weeks into the season, so it is time to start evaluating the Indians' roster and their performance to date to see if things can remain consistent, will get worse, or will get better. Adam McGavin takes a look at four questions in the early going: Can they keep up their high ranking on-base percentage, should Damon lead off, will Lowe continue to lead the staff, and when does Pestano become the closer?

So, there's this kid named Lindor. Has anyone heard of him? And what about this Goedert kid in Akron? Rumor has it that he can hit the baseball on occasion. While those unknowns made the top three of Sunday Night's ATF, the headliner is an actual surprise. Oh, I'm sure many of you have heard of him, but most haven't paid attention. Check out these fine Indians' prospects, as well as many more...after the jump...

Second Thoughts: Game 26 - Indians 4, Rangers 2
The battle of first place teams concluded today with the Indians and Ubaldo Jimenez coming out on top, 4-2. Perhaps it's time for some folks to start taking the Indians a bit more seriously, as they maintained their 1 1/2 game lead on the Tigers for first place in the A.L. Central. Jeff returns to give his Second Thoughts on the Indians' Sunday afternoon tilt.

Indians acquire 7'1" reliever, Loek Van Mil
The Cleveland Indians acquired the tallest player in the major leagues on Saturday, the 7'1" right-handed reliever, Loek Van Mil. The Indians made the deal for "future considerations." Reports are rampant that those considerations will ultimately be cash.
Mil is a 27-year-old righty from the Neatherlands, who was signed by the Minnesota Twins as a non-drafted free agent way back in 2005. In...

Second Thoughts: Game #25 – Rangers 5, Indians 2
Trailing 2-0, the Indians tallied two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the game into extra frames. You couldn't help but think that they left too many chances on the table, especially after Adrian Beltre blasted an eleventh inning, pinch-hit homer that gave the Rangers a 5-2 victory. Jim Berdysz gives his Second Thoughts to Saturday Night's ballgame.
