Cook struggles in Captains first loss
The Lake County Captains dropped their second game of the season to the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Friday night in a 9-3 loss.
Starting for Lake County was Elvis Araujo, a 20-year-old left-hander out of Venezuela. Araujo went four innings for the Captains, giving up three hits, two runs (one earned), and one walk while striking out seven TinCaps.

Slowey pitches the Clippers to first win
Columbus, OH – There would be no two-game losing streak to start the season for the Columbus Clippers. No home run outburst by the Louisville Bats for the second-straight night, either.
The Clippers (1-1), won their first game of the season Friday night, defeating the Bats (1-1), 3-2, in front of 7,042 fans at Huntington Park in Columbus.

Espino to DL, Neal to Akron
The Indians have placed Double-A Akron right-handed pitcher Paolo Espino on the disabled list in Akron with a left oblique strain. He left last night's game after facing one batter in the third inning because of the injury. Outfielder Thomas Neal has been reassigned from Triple-A Columbus to Akron and will take Espino's spot on the roster.

8 things we learned from Indians opening day
Opening Day may only be the first of 162 games, but the first action of the season can often show us quite a bit. Masterson was masterful. Hannahan and Kotchman were slick with the glove. Captains rally late for season opening win
The Lake County Captains kicked off the 2012 season with a 4-3 win on the road against the Fort Wayne Tincaps on Thursday night. Taking the bump for Fort Wayne was Frank Garces. Garces went 6 strong innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs while striking out 9 Captains hitters. The Captains drew first blood as left fielder LeVon Washington led off with a walk. Shortstop Francisco Lindor reached base on a fielder’s choice before stealing second and reaching third on a passed ball. Lindor went on to score on another passed ball on Fort Wayne catcher Austin Hedges.

2012 Carolina Mudcats Preview: New Beginnings
We close out our 2012 pre-season with the Indians brand new High A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats. The Kinston Indians closed up shop last season with a playoff run that took them to a loss in the Carolina League championship, but are primed for another run at the crown with the K-Tribe's move to the 6,500 seat Five County Stadium. Aeros shut out Binghamton in season opener
The Akron Aeros shut out the Binghamton Mets 4-0 in the team’s season opener on Thursday despite an early exit by starter Paolo Espino due to an apparent injury.

Indians designate Neal, add Sizemore to 60-Day DL
Today the Indians announced that they have designated outfielder Thomas Neal for assignment and have placed outfielder Grady Sizemore on the 60-day disabled list. Indians announce two-year extension with Cabrera
Today the Indians have announced a two-year contract extension with shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. He is now signed through the 2014 season, and is reportedly set to make a total of $16.5 million from 2013-2014.

We continue on with our site previews of the Cleveland Indians four full season affiliates. Akron posted yesterday and today we take a look at the Triple-A Columbus Clippers. They do not have the star power as far as highly rated prospects go, but the team is filled with lots of players that are former Top 10 prospects in the organization.
