Wright strong in 2-1 victory
Steven Wright held the New Britain Rock Cats to two hits and a run over seven innings Thursday night, winning his fifth game of the year and lifting the Aeros to a 2-1 victory at Canal Park. The Aeros (36-20) completed a three-game sweep of the Rock Cats and have won seven of the last eight games. The Aeros have won nine straight home games, sweeping three straight series in the process. Overall, the Aeros are 23-7 at Canal Park this season. Showcasing his deceptive knuckleball, Wright (5-2) was dominant, holding New Britain hitless through 6 1/3 innings. He allowed a one-out double to center in the seventh to the Cats’ Matt Rizzotti to lose the no-hit bid. One out later, Chris Colabello also doubled, driving home Rizzotti for a 1-0 New Brtiain lead. New Britain starter Logan Darnell (5-4) was equally impressive, holding the Aeros scoreless through six. After being staked to a lead, however, he faltered in the bottom of the seventh.
