The 2012 Transaction Rundown: May 26 - June 15

Cue the theme from M*A*S*H. It was a brutal stretch for the Indians as the big league club saw Carlos Santana, Jack Hannahan, and Travis Hafner all go on the Disabled List and Rafael Perez reassigned to the 60-day DL from the 15-day variety. Other notable transactions include Josh Tomlin's return from the Disabled List and the end of the Jairo Ascencio experiment as he was claimed off waivers by the hapless Chicago Cubs.
For the week of June 2-8, the farm system saw three players (Dwight Childs, Trevor Crowe, and Tyler Sturdevant) all activated from the 7-day DL and immediately assigned to other teams. Throw in assignments to the "Mahoning Valley Scrappers" for Jordan Casas and Matt Lawson and Johnny Damon's Paternity Leave from the big league club and it adds up to the season's strangest week to date on the transaction wire.
This past week started quiet...too quiet. When the transaction wire got back underway on Monday, it overheated. By the time the week was over, Jack Hannahan had been with two clubs on Major League Rehab (and ironically missed being in Columbus for Jack Hanna bobblehead day by one day) and returned to the Major League roster, Dwight Childs had spent exactly one day on an active roster in between DL stints, Bo Greenwell and Antwoine Hubbard had returned to competitive baseball for the first time in the 2012 season, and the big league club had a new reliever (Esmil Rogers) make a couple of impressive outings.
