Smoke Signals 4/3: We're Back Edition
April 3, 2012
Smoke Signals returns to the cyberwaves tonight to kick off the new 2012 season. In celebration of the return of the show and opening day being just two days away, we will air a special two-hour edition from 9:00-11:00PM EST.
As noted a few weeks back, former co-host Paul Cousineau is no longer able to commit to the show, so IPI site contributor and editor Jim Pete has stepped in to fill his (big) shoes. Good luck to Paul…he will be missed and hopefully we can get him on the show a few times this season.
On tonight’s show Jim and I will recap the Indians offseason and spring training to get up to speed with where the Indians stand today. We will discuss the decision to re-sign Grady Sizemore, the Carmona/Hernandez debacle, the concerns with left field, the Chisenhall/Hannahan debate, and lots more.
In the second half of the show we will be joined by several other contributors from the site and do a “roundtable” session. This is the first time we are doing this for the show, so I am not completely sure how this will work considering everyone will be on the phone together and not in a studio face-to-face, so we will try and make it go as smoothly as possible. We will discuss what we like/dislike about the team going into the season, who the breakout/bust candidates are, could the Indians have done better/worse this offseason, possible contract extensions, and predict the Indians’ fate in the standings as well as lots of other MLB predictions.
After tonight Smoke Signals will air every Tuesday night from 10:00-11:00PM EST. As you can see, Smoke Signals is back to its normal one hour format, which will allow us much more time to talk about several topics surrounding the team, talk about the recently completed game that night, and have guests on quite regularly. With last year’s half hour format we were unable to have guests like in years past, so this will be a welcomed return this year.
Also, be on the lookout for a new Fantasy Baseball show from the IPI every Sunday for a half hour from 7:00-7:30PM EST. The first show should debut this Sunday April 8th or next Sunday April 15th. Site contributors Jeff Ellis and Andrew Zajac will host the show.
Feel free to call us at 1-347-202-0338 or email us at email@example.com to talk about anything on your mind. Thanks again for listening!
