ERIE, PA — Designated hitter Tyler Holt rose to the occasion in the top of the ninth inning, and hit what turned out to be the game-winning two-out RBI single off of Slade Smith (0-1, 9.53) to center field that brought in Bryson Myles.

New arrival J.C. Ramirez (1-0, 0.00) followed with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, which secured the Akron RubberDucks 2-1 victory over the Erie SeaWolves (18-22).

Erie took a one-run lead in the third inning on a Ramon Cabrera ground-rule double to left field.  That was the only run that the SeaWolves could manage against starter Cody Anderson. The right-hander got a no-decision, but pitched a great game, striking out seven and allowing just five hits.

Jordan Cooper threw two excellent innings of relief, as well, yielding just one hit to Erie.

Akron’s first run came from shortstop Francisco Lindor, who singled in Holt to tie the game up at 1-1. The RubberDucks got multiple-hit performances from Tyler Naquin, Nate Wolters, Myles and Holt.

Despite the 10 hits, Akron went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position, but the team got it done when they needed to.

The RubberDucks took two out of three games at Erie, winning the series. The RubberDucks have now won 18 of their last 21 games, and seven-straight series.

Akron (28-14) will continue their road trip tomorrow, traveling to Altoona (16-24) to take on the Curve. The RubberDucks have won 10 of 13 games against the Curve this season, thus far. LHP Joely Rodriguez (1-4, 4.98) is scheduled to start for Altoona and RHP Duke von Schamann (2-0, 3.03) will take the mound for Akron.
