ERIE, PA – Akron right-hander Toru Murata threw six shutout innings, and third baseman Ronny Rodriguez had three RBI as the Akron RubberDucks won their 10th consecutive game with a 4-2 victory over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park.

The winning streak is the longest for the RubberDucks (20-11) since the 2010 team won 12-straight. The team has won every game on the current road trip (six games), and will look to complete a sweep of the SeaWolves on Wednesday morning at 11 AM. The Ducks also increased their lead in the EL West to 2.5 games as second-place Richmond lost, 5-1, at Harrisburg.

Murata (2-0) was dominant, holding the SeaWolves to just three harmless hits in his six innings of work. He walked one and struck out three. It was just the second start, and third appearance overall for the 28-year-old native of Osaka, Japan, who has split time this season between the RubberDucks and Columbus Clippers.

Bryson Myles gave the RubberDucks a 1-0 lead in the second inning, belting a solo homer to left off Erie starter Kyle Ryan (2-4, 4.89). It was Myles’ second homer of the year and 10th RBI. Rodriguez followed with a two-run double in the fourth, a gapper to left-center that chased home Myles and Joe Wendle, each of whom had singled. Rodriguez added a sacrifice fly in the sixth to make it 4-0.

The SeaWolves rallied late. Stephen Moya blasted a solo homer to right in the eighth inning off Jordan Cooper to make it 4-1. In the ninth, Moya struck again with a two-out RBI single off closer Kyle Crockett to make it 4-2. After yielding another single to load the bases, Crockett got a bouncing ball to first from Jamie Johnson that was turned into a 3-1 putout to end the game. It was the fourth save of the season for Crockett, but the left-hander saw his AA scoreless streak end at 21 1/3 innings.

Centerfield Tyler Naquin made two outstanding catches in center. The first was a running catch against Moya leading off the third. The second was a sensational diving catch in left-center in the sixth, taking extra-bases away from Eugenio Suarez.

The RubberDucks and SeaWolves (12-17) will conclude the three-game series on Wednesday morning at 11:05 AM. RHP Cody Anderson (2-2, 3.13) will get the start for Akron, while RHP Wilsen Palacios (1-1, 6.35) is the announced starter for Erie. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM in Akron and, also, via www.AkronRubberDucks.com.

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is the 18th since moving to Canal Park and the first as the RubberDucks.
