Rookie Notes: AZL defense dazzles, Offense produces
MARYVALE - One thing the AZL Indians squad has rarely had an issue with is scoring runs. On Thursday night, they scored seven of them on 15 hits against the AZL Brewers in a 7-2 win.
Second baseman Claudio Bautista, Dorssys Paulino and Anthony Santander each had three hits to their evening. Mitch Brown started the game and provided three innings of adequate pitching, surrendering two earned runs on three hits and struck out two and walked two. Most notably, the squad did not commit an error on the night.
Brown has one of the nastiest sliders in the Arizona League—his fastball-slider combination is his bread and butter -; however, he was honing his secondary stuff further on Thursday night. Brown matched a season high with those two walks, though he was missing low in the zone avoiding real damage.
