News on Offense:
Outfielder Jordan Brown was named the Indians Minor League Player of the Week ending on Sunday, June 3rd. Brown was unstoppable at the plate, going 13-for-30 (.433 AVG) with four doubles, a triple, and a homerun. He also drove in four runs. More on Jordan later…
As I predicted, Francisco Lindor was announced as the starting shortstop for the Midwest League Al-Star team’s Eastern Division. It is well deserved for Francisco, as he currently owns a .269 AVG with four homeruns, 21 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. Lindor’s average was above .300 at one point this season and he has cooled down considerably, but the selection to the game is still well deserved.
Hitter of the Week: Jordan Smith
If he was good enough for the Indians Player of the Week, he is good enough for the “On-Deck” Hitter of the week. Even though he was snubbed from the Midwest League All-Star team, Smith was a one-man wrecking crew for the Captains. He batted .522 this week with four runs scored, four doubles, three walks and three strikeouts.

News on Pitching:
Starter Cody Anderson was named to the Midwest League All-Star team this past week. Anderson has been lights out as a starter after starting the year in a piggy-back role with Kyle Blair. Anderson has a win-loss record of 4-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 58.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 46 and walked 15, while batters are hitting .261 against him.
Joe Colon was also named to the Midwest League All-Star team. Colon has been the ace of the staff this season, going 5-5 with a 2.78 ERA in 71.1 innings pitched. Opponents are batting .220 versus Colon and he has struck out 40 batters. He was not a highly ranked prospect coming into this season, but he has improved his stock considerably.
One player that I bet is happy to see the All-Star break come is Felix Sterling. Sterling had another interesting start on Saturday where he went five innings and allowed three runs. He is starting to accumulate the walks (he now has 28) and the ERA is creeping to the six mark (it is at 5.86 right now).
Pitcher of the Week: Mason Radeke
The reliever picked up a win this week and struck out nine batters in just six innings of work. He allowed one earned run to pass and five hits.

Almost any hitter can be stopped if you can pitch around him.
F. Lindor had 3 walks today.
Almost any young player will start reaching for bad pitches when he is being "pitched around."
That develops bad habits.
Lindor & Aguilar are two kids who should have been moved up three weeks ago.
If you have to release or demote players, then do it.
Don't ruin great talent.
