The Carolina Mudcats earned an extra-inning win against the Winston-Salem Dash 5-2 at Five County Stadium Thursday night.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Mudcats and gave the team its first walk-off home run of the season. The teams traded runs throughout regulation until a three-run inning for the Mudcats in the 14th.

Cody Anderson started for Carolina and delivered seven innings with five hits, two runs, and five strikeouts. Owen Dew (3-5) earned the win with three scoreless frames, two hits, and one strikeout. Jason Van Skike (3-3) took the loss.

Winston-Salem and Carolina traded off runs—never both scoring in the same inning. The Dash scored first in the top of the second with doubles from Jeremy Farrell and Josh Richmond.

Carolina couldn't get past second in the next two innings, but got on the board with home run from third baseman Paddy Matera in the bottom of the fourth.

A hitless fifth inning gave way to a tough top of the sixth for the Mudcats defense. Anderson allowed two singles, and a wild pitch and a fielding error allowed designated hitter Rangel Ravelo to score.

A throwing error got designated hitter Joe Wendle to second in the bottom of the seventh but the Mudcats weren't able to tie the game until a pair of singles from catcher Tony Wolters and Wendle, a walk and a sacrifice fly from first baseman Jerrud Sabourin brought the score to 2-2.

Extra innings progressed without a hit in the 10th, 11th and 12th innings. The Dash got a single in the top of the 13th but it wasn't until the bottom of the 14th when Carolina set off the scoring and took the lead for good. A single and a walk put Matera and Sabourin on base, and a home run from left fielder Bryson Myles to left field ended the game.

The Mudcats continue their home stand against the Dash on Friday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
