Morimando, Naquin lead Mudcats in 8-2 win
Carolina wins opener against Winston-Salem
The Carolina Mudcats took the first game in a series at Winston-Salem with a 8-2 win against the Dash at BB&T ballpark Wednesday night.
Shawn Morimando (7-9) started for the Mudcats and pitched six innings with three hits, two runs and five strikeouts.
Erik Gonzalez doubled in the top of the second for two runs in his debut with Carolina. The Mudcats added four more with singles from Alex Lavisky, Tyler Naquin, Joe Wendle and a catching error from Chris Curley.
The Dash got the next two runs in the bottom of the third and a home run in the bottom of the sixth from Curley.
Carolina added two more in the top of the ninth with a home run from Naquin to score Jerrud Sabourin.
The Mudcats continue their series at Winston-Salem Thursday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
