Wappingers Falls, NY- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers came into Thursday night’s game in Hudson Valley looking to continue their solid road play. Unfortunately for the Scrappers they were held hitless for six innings before falling for the seventh consecutive game, 4-1 to the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The game started scoreless for the first three and a half innings. Then in the bottom of the 4th inning the Renegades would get on the board first. With two outs Leo Correa singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Wilmer Dominguez then singled to score Correa to give Hudson Valley a 1-0 lead.

Hudson Valley would add two more runs in 5th inning. Braxton Lee singled to start the inning. Coty Blanchard followed with his first triple of the season to score Lee for a 2-0 lead. Two pitches later, a wild pitch would allow Blanchard to score as well for a 3-0 lead.

In the 6th inning with two outs the Renegades would add their final run of the night. A two out single from Alec Sole would score Correa for a 4-0 Hudson Valley lead.

The Scrappers offense struggled to get anything going all night. For the second time in the past three games the Scrappers went at least six innings without a hit. Leo Castillo would get the first Scrappers hit with two outs in the 7th inning when he doubled to rightfield.

Mahoning Valley would score their lone run in the top of the 8th inning. Drake Roberts led off the inning with a double. He moved to third on a groundout from Yonathan Mendoza. A Greg Allen sacrifice fly to centerfield would score Roberts to make the score 4-1.

Cameron Hill (0-1) started for Mahoning Valley and took the loss. Hill allowed just 1 run over 4 innings. He gave up 4 hits and struck out 1 while walking only 1. Ramon Rodriguez would make his Scrappers debut in relief. Rodriguez worked 2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits. He walked none and struck out 1. Luis Gomez would throw the final two inning for the Scrappers. Gomez threw two perfect innings and struck out 4.

With the loss the Scrappers record drops to 8-19 as they have lost 7 in a row. The 10 hits allowed tonight marks the fourth straight game that the Scrappers have allowed at least 10 hits.

The Scrappers will look to avoid their third consecutive series sweep on Friday night in Hudson Valley. Game time is set for 7:05. If you can’t be at Eastwood Field or on the road, catch all the Scrappers games this season with Tim Pozsgai on Sports Radio 1240 AM.
