COLUMBUS, OH - The first place Columbus Clippers took a beating from Indianapolis Saturday night. The second place Indian's offense was on fire leading them to a 9-2 win.

After a two run homer in the first off of starting pitcher Gabriel Arias the Indians were off to a quick 2-0 lead.

Francisco Lindor came through in the bottom of the first to cut Indianapolis' lead in half with a single homer deep to centerfield. Lindor has racked up four homers in his 29 games in triple-a so far.

After a scoreless second the Indians edged in one more run off of Gabriel Arias in the third. Arias pitched a three up three down inning in the fourth but lost control in the fifth.

After giving up two singles and a walk with no outs to kick off the fifth, Arias was pulled in favor of Shawn Armstrong.

Armstrong came in to a bases loaded situation and immediately gave up a sac fly, bringing home Indianapolis' fourth run of the night.

A walk by Armstrong reloaded the bases and a single followed by another walk sent two more runs in to score for the Indians.

Another sac-fly tacked on another run to bring the Indians lead to 7-1.

Armstrong's troubles were not completely over a wild pitch allowed one more run in the fifth, bringing them to a 8-1 lead.

Josh Outman replaced Armstrong on the mound in the sixth and gave up a single run before the end to put the Indians up by eight.

A last ditch effort was made by the Clippers in the ninth. James Ramsey went yard to right field, his third homer of the year. Ramsey's homer was the final run for the Clippers as they fell short losing 2-9.

The Clippers loss shortened their lead over Indianapolis in the International League West to five games. The Indians will remain in Columbus for two more games before the Clippers hit the road for Toledo.

Great to see Lindor start to come around to AAA. Also Ramsey looks like a good young player with a future. Seems like he hitting very well. Maybe both Sept. 1 call up.
