Indians sign Luke Carlin to minor league deal
The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent catcher Luke Carlin to a minor league contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League spring training camp.
Carlin, 33, returns to the Indians organization after spending three seasons between Triple-A Columbus and Cleveland from 2010-12, appearing in 10 games with the Indians within that span. He spent the 2013 campaign in the Los Angeles organization with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees, hitting, .230 (56-for-244) with 8 doubles, 4 home runs and 29 RBI in 77 games (40 BB, .339 OB%). He is a veteran of twelve minor league seasons since 2002 and has appeared in 56 Major League games over parts of four seasons with San Diego, Arizona and Cleveland.
The Indians have invited now 21 players to Major League camp on non-roster invites.
