Indians announce 2013 minor league staff assignments

The Cleveland Indians have announced their organizational staff alignment within the Player Development System for the upcoming season.
Tom Wiedenbauer will be the Field Coordinator, a role he served in 2011 before joining the big league staff in 2012 as the first base and baserunning coach. Ruben Niebla will be the Pitching Coordinator, Alan Zinter the Hitting Coordinator, Adam Everrett will be the Infield Coordinator, Julio Rangel the Mental Skills Coordinator, and Thomas Albert the Rehab Coordinator. Travis Fryman has moved into a Special Assitant role, nd Johnny Goryl, Minnie Mendoza and Tim Tolman will fill advisor roles.
Chris Tremie moves up from Double-A Akron to be the Triple-A Columbus manager. Tremie, 43, led the Akron Aeros to the 2012 Eastern League title after guiding the club to a regular season record of 82-59 (.582). The native of Houston, Texas has managed in the Indians farm system since 2006 and is entering his 8th season in the organization after spending 2010-11 at Akron. The rest of his staff will be pitching coach Tony Arnold, hitting coach Phil Clark, and athletic trainer James Quinlan.
Edwin Rodriguez moves up from High-A Carolina to be the manager at Akron. Rodriguez, 52, spent his first season in the Player Development System at Single-A Carolina after guiding the Florida Marlins in 2010-11. He is entering his 34th year in professional baseball. The rest of his staff will be pitching coach Greg Hibbard, hitting coach Jim Rickon, and athletic trainer Chad Wolfe.
Dave Wallace moves up from Low-A Lake County to be the manager at Carolina. Wallace, 33, enters his second year managing at the Minor League level after leading the Lake County Captains to a second half title and a regular season record of 71-68 in 2012. Wallace was a staff assistant on the Major League staff in 2009-10 after the conclusion of his playing days. The rest of his staff will be pitching coach Jeff Harris, hitting coach Rouglas Odor, and athletic trainer Jeremy Heller.
Scooter Tucker was the hitting coach role at Carolina in 2012 and will now be the manager at Lake County. Tucker, 46, began his coaching career last year under Rodriguez and enters his first season of managing at the Minor League level. The rest of his staff will be pitching coach Steve Karsay, hitting coach Tony Mansolino, and athletic trainer Bobby Ruiz.
Ted Kubiak will return as the manager at short season Single-A Mahoning Valley. Newcomer Shuan Larkin will be the hitting coach and Matt Beauregard will be the athletic trainer. The Indians have yet to fill the pitching coach position.
Anthony Medrano will return as manager at rookie level Arizona. The rest of his staff will be pitching coach Scott Erickson, hitting coach Junior Betances, coach Dennis Malave, and athletic trainer Ted Blackwell.
Joel Mejia is the new manager for the rookie level Dominican Summer League team. The rest of his staff will be hitting coach Francisco Cabrera, infield coach Carlos Fermin, and athletic trainer Miguel Ledesma. The Indians have yet to fill the pitching coach role.
