Indians Acquire McAllister To Complete Kearns Trade

McAllister, 22, has spent the entire 2010 season to date at Triple-A Scranton, going 8-10 with a 5.09ERA in 24 starts and one complete game (132.2IP, 165H, 82R/75ER, 38BB, 88K). He had a five-start win streak from May 9-June 1 with a 2.41ERA during the five start span (1CG, 33.7IP, 32H, 9ER, 5BB, 18K, .258avg) and has fanned 25 in 24.1 August innings. He is currently 11th in the International League in innings pitched (132.2). He was a non-roster invite this past spring for the Yankees.
The 6-5, 230-pound right-hander entered the 2010 season ranked by Baseball America as the 5th-best prospect and as having the "Best Control" in the Yankees organization. Last year, he spent the entire campaign with Double-A Trenton where he went 7-5 with a 2.23ERA in 22 starts (121.0IP, 98H, 39R/30ER, 33BB, 96K, .220avg). His ERA led the Eastern League as he was named the Yankees Minor League Pitcher of the Year. McAllister was originally selected by the Yankees in the 3rd round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft in the third round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft out of Illinois Valley Central High School. He owns a career minor league ERA of 3.40 in 98 games/86GS (511.0IP, 511H, 193ER). His father, Steve, is a scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
