Howard looks good in AZL Sunday doubleheader
PEORIA - Dillon Howard started the first game of two seven inning ball games on Sunday night and pitched one of his better game in the AZL thus far. The Indians lost the first game 2-1 but rebounded in the second game to beat the Padres 7-3.
Howard threw 3.1 innings and struck out six and surrendered two earned runs on the night and walked just one batter. He was working ahead in the count and had better command of his fastball than his previous four starts. The big righty had his fastball primarily between 88-92 MPH and looked more poised on the mound than his recent starts. While his best start came July 3rd against the Mariners (4 IP, 4 K, 1 BB, 0 ER), this was probably his next best outing as a whole.
While Howard's numbers don't look too appealing, he has been walking fewer hitters as the season has progressed. Howard struggled leaving pitches over the plate (5+ hits in each of his last three starts), but was able to work past a rough...
