K-Tribe snap 4-game skid
After Winston-Salem scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning, Kinston came back with an RBI ground out from Lonnie Chisenhall (0-for-4) in the bottom of the frame. The RBI drove in Lucas Montero who singled to lead off the inning.
The K-Tribe would break the tie in the bottom of the third, when Adam Davis delivered a bases loaded, two-out, two RBI single. Kinston loaded the bases earlier in the inning with back-to-back singles from Ryan Blair and Montero and Ole Sheldon getting hit by a pitch. Kinston would add some insurance in the fifth inning, when Cord Phelps and Ole Sheldon walked. The duo was driven in with back-to-back RBI singles from Davis and Ronald Rivas. Davis ended the night 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Paolo Espino (3-5) picked up the win for Kinston giving up just three hits and an unearned run in six innings. Espino struck out six and did not walk a batter. David Roberts picked up his third save of the season, striking out three in two innings of work. Dash starter Justin Edwards (2-2) took the loss. Former ECU Pirate Dale Mollenhauer went 1-for-5 with a double on the night.
Brach Pitches Scrappers to 10-0 Win
On Wednesday night the Scrappers used strong starting pitching from Brett Brach and clutch hitting to defeat the Aberdeen Ironbirds 10-0. The Scrappers were able to get off to an early lead scoring three runs in the first, thanks to an Ironbirds error and a Kyle Bellows RBI single. Then in the third, the Scrappers expanded the lead when Bellows tripled to right center and the scored on Ben Carlson
