Columbus loses late again, 3-2
On a night when the weather was suited more for playoff hockey than baseball, the Columbus Clippers couldn't hold two separate early leads and lost 3-2 Tuesday night to the Louisville Bats. Homer Bailey pitched six innings, allowing only two earned runs and six hits for the win.
Tomo Ohka had the start for the Clippers and looked good through 5 innings but ran into trouble in the sixth. Singles by Norris Hopper and Adam Rosales preceded a walk to Kevin Barker to load the bases for the Bats. Wes Bankston then lined a 1-1 pitch to center field to score Hopper and Rosales, giving the Bats the lead for good and ending the night for Ohka.
The scoring started in the second inning on a single by Stephen Head that plated Matt LaPorta. LaPorta would also have an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning that scored David Dellucci. The Bats other run came in the top of the fifth when Craig Tatum doubled down the left field line. Wes Bankston would score on the hit, but a relay throw by Valbuena would catch Daniel Dorn at the plate for the inning
