Indianapolis tops Columbus 5-1
The Clippers lost in Indianapolis 5-1 Monday night. Clippers starter Ryan Edell allowed three runs in seven innings of work and Brad Lincoln pitched five shutout frames for Indy.
Indianapolis got on the board right away on a first inning sacrifice fly from Jeff Clement and tacked on two more in the fifth when Neil Walked drove in a pair with a double.
The Clippers were held in check all night long with the exception of one pitch thrown by former Clippers reliever John Meloan. The first Triple-A homer for Niuman Romero in the sixth inning made the score 3-1. Romero was the only other Clippers batter to touch third base all night, moving there again in the ninth after reaching on a walk.
Michael Tejera, fresh off of the disabled list, threw two innings allowing a two-run home run to Tagg Bozied for the final runs of the contest. Meloan tossed two relief frames allowing one run and Corey Hamman and Jeff Sues each authored a scoreless inning to finish off Columbus.
The Clippers and Indians meet again Tuesday night at 7:00pm. Kenny Ray goes back into the rotation and faces off Daniel McCutchen.
