EASTLAKE, OH - Clint Frazier laced a triple into the right center field which scored Dorssys Paulino from first base, and then Frazier scored after an error on the throw to third and the Captains won 7-6. The win was the ninth walk-off of the season for the Captains and the fourth consecutive win for Lake County.

Lake County got the early lead when Frazier lined his tenth home run of the season into the bleachers and Lake County led 1-0. Frazier has hit three homers in the past two ballgames.

Great Lakes scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead. Jose Capellan singled and then back-to-back sacrifice bunts, and an error put runners at second and third with one out.Joey Curletta hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1. With a runner on third base, a balk scored the run and it was 2-1 Loons.

The Captains scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and took the lead. Paul Hendrix walked, and Nellie Rodriguez doubled him to third base. Torsten Boss walked and then Richard Stock singled home two runs to give the Captains a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning, Stock score on a double from Jorge Martinez and the score was 4-2 Captains.

Paul Hoenecke and Josmar Cordero hit back-to-back home runs, in the top of the fifth inning, and the Loons took the lead 5-4. In the inning, Joey Curletta singled and scored on the Hoenecke homer to tie the game at 4-4. Cordero put the next one in the bleachers and the Loons led by one run.

Lake County tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Torsten Boss and Grant Fink singled. With one out and runners on the corners Jorge Martinez lifted a sacrifice fly to right field and the score was evened at 5-5.

Brandon Trinkwon hit a home run to lead-off the tenth inning and the Loons beat the Captains 6-5. For Trinkwon, it was the first homerun of the season. That set the stage for the bottom of the tenth inning.

LHP Luis Lugo (5-7) started the game for the Captains and did not get a decision. Lugo allowed seven hits on five runs, three earned runs, three walks and he struck out seven. Wander Beras pitched three scoreless innings of relief. Beras allowed one walk and fanned five. Justin Brantley (2-1) pitched one and two thirds innings and allowed one earned run on five hits. Brantley took the loss. Anderson Polanco (2-0) pitched one third of an inning two earn the win.

RHP Jonathan Martinez (7-5) started for Great Lakes and did not get a decision. Martinez pitched five innings and allowed six hits, four earned runs, two walks and five strikeouts. Martinez allowed the homer to Frazier. Matt Campbell pitched two scoreless innings of relief and struck out four. Victor Araujo pitched two innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and he fanned one. Luis Chirinos (5-4) took the loss after allowing the two runs in the tenth.

The Captains will continue a seven-game home stand on Saturday night. The Captains will send RHP Mitch Brown (2-7, 4.16) to the mound for the start. The Great Lakes Loons will be in town and will start RHP Brandon Martinez (1-4, 3.82). First pitch is at 6:30 PM from Classic Park in Eastlake.

Sunday’s special game time is 6:30 PM and is a Family Fun Sunday which will include a pre-game player autograph session, concourse entertainment and activities, as well as the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game.

The Captains annual Pre-Game Mass, part of the Captains Faith Night, will take place before the game at 4:30 PM.

Sunday will feature the first of two Sunday Fireworks Nights, presented by Drug Mart.  Fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks extravaganza set to a Superhero-themed music soundtrack to coincide with the many superheroes that will be on hand to meet fans and take photos.
