COLUMBUS, Ohio – Free baseball was played at Huntington Park Wednesday morning as the Clippers once again went into extra innings with the Charlotte Knights.

With no end in sight southpaw Nick Hagadone took over in tenth – letting up a big fly over the left field wall for a three-run homer, putting the Knights up 5-2.

The Clippers were unable to dig themselves out of Hagadone's hole and fell to Charlotte for the first time the series.

Travis Banwart started on the bump for Columbus and other then a rocky first inning put together a strong outing. Banwart went seven innings and only let up two hits and two run, fanning seven.

Top of the first and Banwart let up a double followed by two walks to load up the bases with just a single out. Banwart then walked in the Knights' first run of the game. The righty bounced back, striking out the next two batters to escape the inning.

The Clippers came back with run support in the bottom of the first. Tyler Holt hit into a fielders choice for the first out and made his way on first. Elliot Johnson followed behind drawing the walk. Carlos Moncrief came up with the clutch hit to the corner of left field to bring Holt home to score the tying run.

All bats went cold up until the seventh. With two outs Banwart left one up and Blake Tekotte sent a bomb to right field for the single homer for Charlotte to take the lead.

The Clippers rallied in the eighth to tie things back up. Holt sent a high fly to left for his only hit of the night – the center fielder is batting .273 in his first three games with the Clippers. Johnson followed suit with a single to left of his own.

Columbus caught a break with a balk that advanced both runners to third and second. Giovanny Urshela grounded out, but brought Holt home for his second run of the game.

The work of Scott Barnes in the eighth and ninth kept the Clippers in the game. Barnes, who sports a 3.92 ERA, struck out two and let up just a single hit.

Hagadone got called to the mound in the tenth and immediately gave up a hit, a line drive out to center field for a single. A sac bunt then put runners on first and second after a throwing error by Hagadone to first occurred. Two outs later, with two runners on Hagadone let up his fourth homer of the season that earned him the loss.

The Clippers are set to get one more go at the Knights as they finish their four-game home stand Thursday afternoon.
